Iraqis felt before the US invaded that the US was provoking conflict. In fact, the entire rest of the world knew it. The only people who don't know the record of the US provoking conflict not just in this situation, but in countless others, for decades, is apparantly the Americans themselves.

Americans are the only ones who have no concept of themselves as a global tyrannical empire. There are the official reasons for warring and then there are the shiney feelgood labels put on them. Foreigners can see completely through the labeling system because they are not the victems of consistent propaganda like the Americans. Americans are the victems of a full-on immersion of pro-military propaganda. Most Americans have no idea it is even going on at all. They simply accept it as a way of life- the American way of life.

Tyranny really isn't American at all. Global domination is not American either. America was a breakaway nation from an old world global dominator- England. America was to be basking in liberty. We all know when in history other nations try to liberate others, they are actually doing it to "conquer" or control in some manner.

The question becomes why are so many Americans blind to the fact that their military is far too large to allow for a sustainable democracy in America? One of the reasons is their knowledge of history, which has been vastly manipulated, distorted and redacted to the point of complete whitewashing.

There is a noticable lack of ancient Roman history in the US history books of today, lest Americans see the strong role warring plays in politics and influence. War itself is an industry, and perhaps more importantly, a power. War is an enterprise. In pursuit of it, leaders will do what it takes to make it happen, because there is such a trail of money and influence attached.

What the Iraqis want is of very little concern to Americans in general and to American leaders in particular. American war leaders have decided they want the sphere of influence and an establishment of bases in the region. Period.

Worse, how many Iraqis die in this war is of no concern to Americans at all. This is why we do not hear of an Iraqi body count on a regular basis. The US government does keep statistics on dead Iraqi (civilian and otherwise) people but does not release them. This is because Americans do not ask for that information. Americans have no idea why an Iraqi would not welcome our troops... deep down Iraqis know that America has no incentive to leave their country alone to its newfound "democracy". There is too much to pillage.

Hussein kept an orderly regime. There was enough for basic needs, and even one could say most Iraqis had a high quality of life, given the region. Now, Iraqis are starving, with no water, housing, electric, no jobs, etc... Americans actually ask why an Iraqi would support Hussein... they have no thought of the present living circumstances for Iraqi peoples.

Ever travel outside the US and experience the hatred people have for us? Watch "The Falcon and the Snowman". See the main character become disillusioned with the CIA and why. Note it's a story based on real life events. Then research what our country has done in the world. Why are Americans always the last to know why we are not welcomed as liberators in the world? Because we are too lazy to find out what's really being done in our names, with our money, and hold leaders in shame? Don't read what the US government puts out about military campaigns. Read what the people of that country have to say about it afterwards. They have no propaganda to sell. They are the victems themselves.

Absofrigginlutely. I say give the Kurds in the north what it is going to take to sustain them and let the rest of the country self implode.

I supported our reason to go into Iraq. I still believe we were justified. I just have no respect for a country or a people that can take the most priceless gift of freedom from tyranny that was handed to them and spit back in our faces and on our "freedom fighters". Bring our men and women home, fortify our own border, buy one way tickets to either France or the MiddleEast for the Americans that worked with the terrorists and those countries who wanted to destroy what America stands for and tell the rest of the world to take flying leap.

Absofrigginlutey....

Unfortunately, the the leaders of this great Nation, moreso than I, KNOW that we can't just leave the fate of the world to the other "super powers" and feel confident that they will do what is in the best interest of our planet and do the right thing for all concerned, because they won't. Sure would be nice though!!

They shouldn't be there in the first place, but if they pull out now, they should offer refuge/relocation to the Iraqis who have helped them. They can't just abandon these people to their fate.
