Will probably be a guest worker program and it will probably be in place by this time next year.

I think it will depend a lot on what happens in November. Also, the latest 'form' of amnesty/guest worker program I heard of being proposed was legalization for those who are employed and paying taxes. That is the recommendation of a current Senate task force. I think some form of agriculture guest worker program might be added but hope it is seasonal, since the work is only seasonal, but the impacts on schools and health care are year round. The current AgJobs plan would bring in fresh people every 3 years and basically say 'if you work in agriculture for three years you will get residency, and education health care and benefits at the taxpayer expense'. The problem is, the taxpayer gets no benefits of letting the employer pay those poverty level wages to begin with.
However, I don't know that they will convince the American people to take anything without a citizen-enforcable plan to stop the entire problem, dismantling employment and benefit magnets for illegals and mandating interior enforcement going forward. Our schools and hospitals are already failing.

if all of us anti-illegal keep flooding the offices of the "elected class" with our no amnesty, enforcement only message we may have a chance! Both parties are posturing for the next presidential election so I think middle-class Americans still have a chance - they both have their eyes on the big prize - the presidency! Even Clinton voted for the fence - the coward Kennedy did not vote! I know 2 years is a long time but "Keep those cards & letters coming!"

The issue of total amnesty is really out of the question. The guest worker program should be modified in the beginning of 2007.
I do not believe in breaking the law but i also do not believe immigration for betterment is a crime. If the I.N.S. would work efficiently the good, hard working, family loving,God fearing, and respectful people of all nations should be accepted with open arms.
With the riff-raff kept out.
I have my vote and will use it to do what I think is best for me and this country I love so much.

This morning's papers write only of a new iron curtain. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/29/AR2006092901912.html This, plus new passport requirements from 2008 to travel to Canada and Mexico http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/regional/regional_1170.html will greatly reduce travel. And will keep undocumented aliens from returning home out of fear they won't be able to get back in. http://snurl.com/pickers
There will be a great deal of political to-ing and fro-ing. And inevitably an economic crisis for those businesses and farms that depended on undocumented aliens for cheap labor. (Not to mention legal labor whose wages were kept down by the Marxian competition.) I wouldn't count on an amnesty or a guestworker program soon.

of course you're racist in case you view the unlawful immigration situation as "Whites vs. Mexicans". Their isn't any reason you will possibly think of the persons you insult on your comments are undocumented workers and not US electorate, basically that they belong to an ethnic group you dislike. The final time a "White" majority blamed all of their financial issues on a unmarried ethnic group, they justified killing 12 million ethnic minorities, inclusive of 6 million Jews. Now let us know back why you're actually not racist...

Don't count on it happening. The plan Bush offered is a dead issue at this point. The politicians may be ignorant but they aren't going to defy 85% of the people that vehemently oppose amnesty.for illegals. we have excising laws that must be enforced.
Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):
A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:
assists an illegal alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or
encourages that illegal alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or
knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.
