I'm laughing at all the answers that flat-out declare it's either Irish or Pagan or Catholic .... so which is it? lol
The thing is, no matter where it came from, it is no longer what it used to be. Now, it's just a chance for all the little kids to wear costumes outside the house and irritate the neighbors until they give them candy!
Christians dislike Halloween because of its paganistic/demonic origins and think if they participate in it, they will be worshipping the devil or something. They do not seem to realize it's all in the intent of your heart. Ask my 4 year old what Halloween is, and she'll tell you she gets candy and gets to be a Barbie princess or something. Her intent has nothing to do with pagans or demons (she doesn't even know what that is), it's purely a candy thing!

The obvious would be pagan and un christian. Popular customs that have pagan roots would not be pleasing God.
The weak churches are afraid to lose money and followers if they preach truth. But doing what is holy has always separated the true faith from the lie. Jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will set you free!
Free from superstition..fear of the dead..and customs that weigh heavy on the pocket book. Of course commercial gain has made this celebration very $$$$.
Like Christmas...$$$$$$$ hard to stop the commercial interest for the sake of truth.

The roots of that go back to pagan/babaylon religion. Like a lot of American Holidays, Christmas, Easter began in babaylon. For true christians, God has never tolerated the mixing of other types of worship. Even though now most dont do that, the orgins are destestable to God. Most of those Holidays are surrounded by drunkeness, adultery, and so on.

I'm not a Christian so I don't agree with this but I was told by many Christians that the reason they hate it so is because it is not "of God" and it "is nothing more than a holiday to celebrate Satan". Therefore it is considered demonic.

There are indeed spiritual forces at work. All Hallows Eve is the time of year the spirits are drawn back to the Earth. And not
all spirits are ghosts and goblins. Did you know Easter comes
6 months later? The opposite time of year?
The Book says to observe the New Moon. Because there are
forces at work at that time.
However. People get too involved in these things. And it quickly
goes from having knowledge, to worshipping these things.
It says in Galatians, "Now that you have known God. Why turn again to the weak and beggarly elements? Do you again want
to be in bondage?"
People who try to control spiritual forces at this material level only
bind themselves more to those things. Read "The World Beyond"
by Ruth Montgomerey. She talks about how we have to learn
to break away form the influences of the planetary spheres
when we are in spirit.

You really should research it. It is Catholic and is called All Hollows Eve. As Christians delve more and more into superstition and spiritualism, the church added the holiday to satisfy them.

in ancient times it was thought the evil ones walked the earth as the veil between the worlds could be breached at this time as well as a festival for harvest. the next day was taken by the Church as all souls day a day in which people attend mass and worshiped GOD as thanks for bringing them safely through another year.
