Yes.Its not a very nice feeling.I also used to get them when I was in the front of the queue at a busy junction waiting to pull out! Crazy how the mind works sometimes.I have learnt to control those feelings with the help of breathing techniques and I also take a prescribed drug now called cipramil. The panic attacks have gone from several a day,to almost none! If symptons persist it would be worth talking to someone. My life has definately improved since seeking help,at one stage I stopped going out of the house...now you can't keep me in! I don't personally want to be on perscribed drugs forever, but its helped to build my confidence up.

It seems that you are a young driver, without much positive experience. Driving with a -relaxed, yet cautious- adult in the passenger seat for a few months longer may be just what you need to gain confidence. Sticking to slower residential streets or country roads can take some of the pressure off of you until you become more confident. Tense drivers are not very safe drivers. When you do get tense or anxious, or your pulse goes too fast then you need to take a break - for your own safety as well as other people's. So, pull off the road, or into a parking lot. Actually get out of your car and walk around until you are back in control and less tense or anxious. When you do start your car again, your entire attention needs to be on the road, and not on how you're feeling. The good thing is, with practice and positive experiences you will likely find the panic fades away. Safety has got to be your 1st goal.

Yep, listen babe if you are a sufferer of panic attacks the fact of the matter is that you can experience them at any time now matter how calm your situation it.
You have to spend some time working on mind over matter and take full control. for instance when a panic attack takes place the body is going into like a form of shock or fear so you can experience all the symptoms as if say like you had someone chasing you your body goes into hypo mode and makes you run like you never have done, or fear your body will show symptoms like shaking sweating hands, heart rushing, heavy breathing, dizzy the list goes on. anyway a panic attack is your body going into control so you have to concentrate and make you mind gain control and this has a lasting effect.
Slow control breathing, calming thoughts. And now matter how scarred you feel make your mind do the comforting as it doesn;t matter who the person is no one ever seems to be what you want at the time you have an attack, so get to know yourself and take control,
It doesn't work over night but it really does work.

Yes. I have many a panic attack. If you are suffering alot with them suggestion: go to your physcian and there are meds for that. Or, take 1 breath in through your nose, count to 4 , exhale very slowly for about 1 minute. that should calm your breathing down and settle you.

Yes, and it's a common reaction amongst people who have panic/anxiety attacks. In traffic, driving on a bridge, on a train, etc. Anywhere that you might feel 'trapped'.
since being treated for my anxiety (with celexa) this almost never happens to me anymore.

No, but I have read about people do have such attacks, especially if they had their car broken into and things stolen, even during jams. Make sure all passenger doors are locked, then the fear should subside.

I get them while putting away laundry.....the mind is a silly thing. For mild anxiety attacks, i was once prescribed beta-blockers, which are more commonly used for heart problems, and they worked really well.
