I pray regularly for God to move in Japan. Approx. 127 million precious souls and (apparently) little impact made by the gospel. I understand that the majority of professing Christians are women. Anyone else feel moved to pray for the salvation of Japanese souls and for more men in the church as leaders and husbands for the single sisters ?

Hi. Thanks for your replies.
First of all, I am learning about their culture. I have also been to Tokyo, Yokohama, Fujiyama, Osaka and Kyoto. I love sushi.
Secondly, I'm not American, I'm English.
Thirdly, for the girl who is not a Christian, maybe you should go sometime. A helpful website is www.japan-guide.com
Fourthly, politeness costs nothing but can mean a lot.
May God bless you all.

The prodominent religions in Japan are Shinto and Buddhism, both predating Christinaity by a considerable amount of time. The Japanese psychological makeup is simply incompatible with Christian belief and conversion would bring more harm than anything else. Look a the damage that has been done to the rest of the world by the conversions. The spanish inquisition, the witch trials, the crusades, the conversion of Northern Europe. The idea of a holy war, that is a war based simply on religious differences did not exist in europe until AFTER the conversion. Japan has very successfully entered into the modern age and managed to retain their ancestral culture, values and religion. and that success is BECAUSE of those beliefs. Japanese businessmen are required to study Samurai philosophy and strategies and use these quite successfully in their dealings. Considering all of the ill that have been visited on the various cultures that have had Christianity foisted upon them and been required to give up their cultural traditions, wanting to create those sorts of problems for the Japanese people amount to an effort to destroy the Japanese culture as the TRUE cultures of Europe, the Americas, and other places around the world have been devestated by the conquest of Christianity. Just becasue pelple don't join up in your, or any one elses time frame, is no rason to attempt to force it upon them. That only makes the form of Christianity that takes hold to be of a diluted and unstable nature. If it happens it will happen when God wills is, and it doesn't then obviously it wasn't God's will that it did. But then that is the ego of man to think that it is up to THEM to do things when God doesn't do it fast enough for them.

You just got me really interested. I imagined what a big difference they will make in the percentage of the Christian existence. Here is an idea. Want to get to their minds and believes; speak their language.

What ARE you talking about? There are VERY many Christians in Japan !! In fact there are hundreds of thousands in China who meet in secrecy because of the Communist government.
Oh yeah, and how many Christians have strapped on bombs and blown up dozens of innocent people walking to the market, or to work? And now how many Muslims have done that?

Japan is moving anyway, it doesn't need God's help. The North-west of the island chain is slowly sinking into the sea. About 220 million years from now, there won't be a Japan.
Should we pray that this doesn't happen? If you are serious, and I DON'T think you are, you are wasting your time . . . but, then, it's your time :)
