Since the tooth and injection were in the back of your mouth, what you felt was the medication being injected. A dentist never uses more than 1 or 2 cc's of medication at any time, it isn't more than a tablespoon of liquid, so it wouldn't cause swelling. Anytime you mess about with the face, there is a swelling though. A tooth is a modified extension of the bone of the jaw- and in pulling the tooth the dentist created a hole in the bone. Much like putting a hole that size in the bone of your upper leg- and it wouldn't surprise you if that swelled up afterwards, would it? The face is much more sensitive to being messed with as well, and sometimes will react by swelling and bruising not really in proportion to the injury.
Since it has been more than 24 hours since the tooth was pulled, the swelling will go down quicker if you apply warm packs to the jaw and face. The heat will encourage more blood circulation, which will carry away the extra fluid that has gathered in your jaw. Warm liquids will also help a bit. Keeping your head raised slightly higher than the rest of the body will encourage it to go down as well, as gravity works to pull it down. Post operative jaw swelling usually goes away on it's own within a few days- usually four or five at most. Since you aren't in any pain, there isn't anything to worry about. It's normal post operative swelling and will go away soon.

A tooth extraction is an extremely invasive procedure and the jaw, just like any injured part of your body will react to the injury by swelling. As the healing process progresses, the oedema will abate and probably be gone within a week. Don't be surprised if there's some bruising as well. This often happens.
And continue to take the antibiotics until the prescription is finished.

Im a dental nurse
OK you need to start using Chlorhexidine mouthwash also known as 'Corsodyl'. its great for clearing up infections. use it 4 times a day for 3 days.
If you get further pain you will need to go back to your dentist. You may get what is known as an infected socket....dont be alarmed though it quite common. its when the blood clot has been lost and you can get a infection after the extraction. It can be very painful and so dont leave it. Your dentist may apply a antiseptic dressing where to tooth was removed...this can be sore but will help if needed. He/she may also put you on a course of antibiotics.
Hope this helps! I strongly reccomend get the mouth wash asap..but make sure its the one i said not any other as this is the strongest one for the job. You must not use it though if you are taking 'metronidozole' antibiotics as the mouth wash conatins alcohol and the two mixed will make you feel terrible
The mouth wash tastes disgusting but honestly it will help!
CORSODYL can be bought from a chemist or some supermarkets

You should have been given an anti-inflammatory, which should ease it in about an hour, and make it go away within a day. Even if theres no pain, take ibuprofen or aspirin to reduce swelling. You probably chewed it in your sleep, ive had like 6 teeth pulled in back, i know what your talking about, it looks wild!

Yes the swelling will ease up, if you find the swelling has not gone by Monday, ring or visit your dentist, and make sure you keep taking your antibiotics, it could lead to infection

i feel u should take OLIVELEAF EXTRACT and green tea everyday. Chili would also help you.
a homeopath would make u up a special formula
but u probably need to eat healthier, avoid stuf like pigmeat, cheese, beef, coffee, margarine, canola oil and fried food
Also avoid using any chemical product, there are lots of natural products around these days
cheers!

You should eat plenty of baked beans! Then you will be full of wind. Then listen when you break wind as, "Abcess makes the fart go HONDA"
