lol usually i consider before writting my answer although if its a stupid question like who like jim carey then i reply with an equally silly answer!
I prefer sensible questions which can have good discussion and people who read can be inspired or learn something!

Rob Roy...
I went to the thread you are speaking of and I would say that the two people you are pointing at did read the question and comprehend it. They may not have given eloquent answers to your question but what they did give you was their opinion. Which is what you were asking for. I think you should read Ramsbotto's response again. I think you misunderstood his response. Ramsbotta is wary of the spin of the present day media. He in essence agreed with you.
Had you left off the last sentence of your statement about being wary of spin then perhaps gingertod would not have given you such a drastic and totally tactless response. It seems she supports the reasons the government is handing out the awards. You could have always came back with additional details to explain your stance but by adding the sentence about being wary you opened yourself up to what happened. Next time you seek opinions try and ask your questions from an unbiased stance. After all, you are seeking honest opinons to your questions aren't you?
I COMPLETELY agree with you though on the level of immaturity that runs rampant on these boards. I wish there was a way of distinguishing responses between kids and adults. I also wish Yahoo would implement countries of origin from the posters by requiring little national flags next to the avatars. I mean, they certainly can track IP addresses and know where the people who answer the questions are regionally located. I believe it should be a requirement. You want to post on these boards, display a flag for where you are located.

I couldn't agree with you more Sir. I posted a question today asking, even though the US is the home of rock music, why is it British bands seem to endure more than US ones?
Of the 14 replies I had, 7 or so where about some other subject altogether. One gave me a long list of US solo artists, and one fool even said that I was claiming the Brits invented rock'n'roll!! (Huh?)
I used to have another account here at YA, but after 5000+ points, I got tired to death of the many many kids on here who think they are being 'kuhl' by being offensive, idiotic and 'individual'. So, now I use this account (toby d) only when I really want to know something. But, I may give up on this account too.
Thanks for your question, and don't let these little p*icks get you down.

Oh I know how you feel, mate. I get hate mail on a regular basis from these slags.
It's the Walter Mitty types that really infest the works. The ones that try to answer, and just can't get past being either flippant or flat out stupid. I wonder about how these people actually get up in the morning without wanting to off themselves. It amazes me no end.
Don't worry, people like the ones that bother you will all die eventually. That's a happy thought for you.

PROBABLY these people do not read right into the question only the first line and start typing in a load of jibberish or swear words just to getthe 2 points for answering a question which could of earned them 10 points

In depth comprehension, on the web? Most people are just idly drifting by, and posting on a whim right? I had to check myself and not put a joke answer to this. A few do though...it's all about accruing a sufficient body of response and then having a good filtration system in place

It's often difficult to even read some of the illiterate tripe on here let alone comprehend it, but where I can, I do.
I do know what you mean though. Unfortunately there is no IQ prerequisite to participate on this site so you will inevitably have more than average idiotic responses to your questions.

I hope that I read the question correctly, I gave you a considered answer, which is simply my opinion based on my reading this week. I think, however that you do have to make allowances for the age group of some of the respondants and, indeed, for their literay skills. I do , however, appreciate your frustration. I think that your previous question was excellent, long may you continue to ask such thought-provoking questions.

I also read questions but this site is free and open to all so it is gonna happen at times.
Just ignore and pass by the bull and perhaps even partake in one or two of the lighter "questions" on this site to lighten your mood.
I'd rather have a comment of gingertod or ramsbotto on my question than be called an dumbass european again. lol

alot of people try to get in with the first answer thinking they may get the best answer and not reading the Q properly, this has happened to me loads of times and some people just want 2 points for answering. If you sift through your answers some times you find the corect or a good answer
