I am 41 and regret having this haircut as I used to have long hair all my life and I am suffering now. Thanks for answering my question.

GNC has a supplement called "Ultra Nourishair" that makes the hair grow faster, you can read what's in it by googling it. Be warned these pills are HUGE and you have to take 2 a day.
Also ProCaps labs sells a "hair skin and nails" formula that does the same thing, supports hair growth and health, and is smaller and easier to swallow.
If you take only Biotin [sometimes known as "vitamin H" ] alone, make sure you take at least 2.5 milligrams or 2500 micrograms [the same thing] a day because thats' a good amount to take. I use the Nourishair supplement from GNC now and my hair is growing faster than it did, but it took about 6 to 8 weeks of daily use to see results

Scalp hair grows about 1/2 inch a month on average and shampoos or vitamins have not been shown to noticeably change this rate. The speed of hair growth varies based upon genetics, gender, age, hormones and may be reduced by nutrient deficiency

Keeping your hair healthy is also the key.

Never towel dry your hair, instead use the towel to smooth your hair (your hair is weakest when wet) - use electric devices on your hair very sparingly - don't put your hair up in rubberbands, scrunchies, etc..this causes breakage.

Massaging your scalp also stimulates growth.

Personally, getting your hair cut shoulder length was a wise choice for a woman who is 41. It's time to let the girls be girls and the women be classy....hence a shorter hair style.
Rethink your decision. Of course you are suffering with a hair cut, you've never had shorter hair and aren't used to it. Give it some time, I'm sure you will get used to it and love it.

Too many women have that midlife crisis and make the ultimate faux pas by growing their hair long, wearing slutty looking clothes, buying a lil' red sportscar, dying their hair blonde....guess what? Everyone looking at them is thinking..."look at that old lady trying to look like a young girl" and are laughing.

I'm not being mean here, just honest.

When I was trying to grow my hair out for my wedding I was told by several stylists to get a trim and use Nioxin shampoo and conditioner! It worked very well and it also stopped shedding.
