Caution!
You need to use Oralgel until you can get in to see the dentist. He will need to remove the roots, thus removing the pain.

Your question isnt exactly clear, but if its just root and no tooth get it removed, but Im guessing its more the tooth is there and the gum has receeded. You could get a composite filling ( white filling material) placed on the exposed root area. If its severe. Or you could just have the dentist place some "durphat" on the area a cream which is a has a high amoun to flouride in it.
In the mean time before you see a dentist try rubbing a high floride content tooth past on the area and leaving it there as if it a cream (dont rinse)....but definatley go see a dentist.

You should go to the dentist if the nerve is exposed. But temporarily you can pick up some dental wax and the store and it is like gum. You can mold it around your tooth until you can get to the dentist. It protects your tooth from the air which is what give you pain when it reaches your tooth.

It sounds like you may have very advanced gingivitis, which is a disease of the gums that causes recession of the gums and in turn, exposure of the tooth to other more serious diseases such as dental caries. Get to a dentist as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you are female, be careful with pain killers if you are pregnant. Check out the link below. Print a copy for your own reference and take it to your dentist.

the dentist I work for always gives Ibuprofin. You can take up to 4 (800mg). This is an anti-inflammitory, and should help the pain, if there is swelling, you may have an infection and need anti-biotics. Dentisty is expensive, so try to contact your local dental society and ask them for resources so you can get an exam for the best possible price. You definitely need to see the dentist.

dear when the bone/root starts showing, the gums are said to be receding. this may be due to many factors, including malocclusion. unfortunately, the pain should not be your biggest worry here. this is a serious condition which can cause extensive caries or infection which can even reach the heart. another nagging possibility is that the (infra-alveolar) nerve may get affected which might lead to paralysis. please, please, DO NOT HESITATE FROM GOING TO THE DENTIST. this may or may not be a serious problem, but why do u want to take such chances? get good help from a proffessionaal TODAY.
