i know what you possibly are going through
a legal marriage or court marriage would be the best solution
but since ur girl prefers a Church marriage
don't dishearten her please
don't make the beginning of ur life the end
listen to her
and one more things
whether Catholic or Orthodox we have one God
our religion is the same - Christianity
we all are followers of Christ
so plz... don't say religions are different
just the sect
don't fight
from my point of view
there are 2 solutions;
1. One of my uncle's is a Muslim and he had a Church wedding with a Catholic
but didn't convert
so u can marry her being ORthodox
just speak to her local parish priest
there has to be some solution
u can get married in church
noyl u would not be able to recieve communion and all
which possibly she wouldn't like
2. convert to Catholicism
see whether u like it or not, for a better future u can convert,
even if u are orthodox, faithful in nature, it won't matter
catholics and orthodox beleive the same
we have one god
same god
beleive in christ
have one Holy book - the holy Bible
eveything the same
onl;y the way we rpatise is different
converting won't effect
moreover Catholicism is directly linke with St. Peter and adirect link with JEsus even though i respect the ORthodox Church
3. a court marrige
4. scrap it., am sure u don;'t want to do so
don't do it also
love once lost will never come back again
adhere to the 1st or 2nd opion prefrably or the 3rd then

She can have a church wedding in any church. If she is really that much into the "Catholic" wedding then they offer classes (like 3-4) and you will both have to go on a weekend vacation with a bunch of other Catholics that want to get married. And then you can get married in the Catholic church. I don't know if it's even still that strict. A couple of meetings together with the preacher may make you OK these days. It's not as hard as it use to be, and by use to be, I mean like 8 years ago.

The Catholic Church allows marriage between Catholics and non-Catholics.
You can remain Orthodox and do not have to convert to Catholicism.
Because the Church recognizes the tremendous challenge that the interfaith couple will face, you may have to get permission from the bishop.
I think you and your fiance should talk to the priest or wedding director at her parish.
With love in Christ.

I'm a catholic and so is my husband but we did not get married in a church(must to his parents dismay as he is Italian). We had a wonderful garden ceremony at a golf club and i wouldn't have changed it for the world.I have been to lots of weddings in churches and they are not the most personal experience, try a chapel you still get the feeling of a church wedding and you can get either a celebrant or a priest to do the ceremony. If the priest you now have still refuses to do the ceremony then find one who will, they are not all old fuddy duddies!
most of all enjoy your day.

In the early times, before the great change in nineteenth century, it was right. Now various religions are meeting, mixing, corelating...it really becomes a big problem for young people, especially in the marriage. Perhaps, the right solution today is to allow man and woman to keep their own religions. Let them address the matter for themselves.

I am married to a Catholic in a catholic church, we encountered no problems and found the priest most welcoming and helpful, I know many non Catholics married to Catholics and none of them have had trouble to have married, why don't you see another priest, some of them can be a bit stuck in their ways, but I have always found them to be happy to welcome us into their church.

Because it raises the risk of losing an adherent to their belief system. This is how religious belief systems defend themselves.
Think of it as like the shell on a turtle, or the eyespots on the wings of a butterfly.
