I've read what other people wrote and first things first, DO NOT spray your dog with anything "spicy" as that moron suggested. Dog's noses as we all know are extremely sensitive. Can you imagine being sprayed in the nose with hot sauce. Second a lot of people have suggested punishment, but I have a beagle, the biggest Sh*t disturbing beagle, and when he was a pu up until about 2 he used to eat everything including the infamous tissue paper on walks...and he was leashed, as that other person pointed out that you should be leashing your dog.(you don't have to). Anyways one day I decided that the negative reinforcement wasn't working so I took a bunch of his favorite treats, and every time he would have anything foreign in his mouth I would point to the floor, say "Drop" and show the treat. He would instantly drop whatever it was and eat the treat. After about 100 times he understood "drop" and he stayed away from tissue all together

You let your dog on the street without a leash?
If you have a leash, there shouldn't be a problem, just pull him away and tell him no or out while you're doing it.
If you don't have a leash, then keep him in a fenced yard, or on a chain.

my dog did this and sometimes still trys.
u need 2 b firm and tell him it's not on.
with a lot of chastising, pulling and reminding him that it's not nice, they do/will get the idea.
i blame the people who refuse 2 clean up after their dogs.
even when i was told by a vet, it won't do them any harm, that's not the point, is it?
it's also a dominance thing, he's wiping any trace of a dog from his haunts.
sorry that's all i can suggest.

There is not really anything you can do to stop him, except maybe teach him some obedience in that respect......a loud no...and or rolled up newspaper on the end of the nose sometimes helps...or get a muzzle for when you are walking so that he/she cant do so.........

Get a small squirt bottle of something spicy and spray it on the dog's nose or mouth everytime he/she does it. After a while the dog will associate anything you didn't give it...as not too pleasing.

is it a dog or a pup... puppy's normally want to eat anything and everything its their way of exploring things.. you should stop him... spank on the floor aroundd him with rolled up newspaper and remove it from his mouth.. it will realise he will realise it is wrong and stop doing it with time incase he does not liasten then spank him.. the newspaper does not hurt but makes noise so it scares the dog..
P.S- if its grown then its not too late teach him now...

I assume, if you are a responsible dog owner, he is on lead. Just don't LET him. Also teach him the command 'leave it'.

Hit him over the head with a rolled up newspaper while you sternly say - NO! (don't hit too hard)
