What I mean by that question.. many accuse Christians of making up verses that don't exist in
the bible! Only The False Christians do that not
the Honest To Goodness Christians. The Honest To Goodness Christians will admit their are translation errors in the bible! Some will say it's not an error it's a difference of opinion by a translator... and that could be right on the money there! I resent those questions that paint false Christians in the same brush as True Christians.. I tend to ignore such questions most of the time but there's been a little too much of such brush painting in the Yahoo. I want to set it straight... if you say there's something in the bible that isn't there you are not a Christian cause you are lieing.. One of the
10 commandments are : Thou Shalt NOT LIE!

I didn't quote any verses in above question. Everyone knows that the 10 Commandments are mentioned in Genesis and also Exodus! I know that Thou Shalt Not Lie is one of the 10 commandments.. I think it's #3 but I might be wrong there!

Jesus preached the word everywhere.
So True Christians also to likewise.
Even on forums like this! To not do so is
unchristian. To accuse me of not being a Christian for mentioning that those that lie about the scriptures not being scriptures don't apparently understand Christianity! Jesus pointed out liars.. shouldn't we do the same? True Christians preach the word everywhere. God only Helps them that Helps themself. We are not Christian if we can not know what a Christian is. How would we? God helps us by the Word of the Bible.. we know a true Christian by their Fruits... their deeds. You that aaccuse me of coppingout for merely pointing out the truth are mudding the waters of truth a thing the Devil doeth!

Exactly!

Which is why you should really ask for the scriptural proof to what someone says. If they say it is there, and they list the scripture - look it up! If they don't give the reference, as for it!
If they offer more references, ask for them.

But, sometimes one scripture might SEEM to say one thing, but when you take a whole group of them on the same subject, you get a better view on the subject.

Just like if 4 people on different street corners see the same accident, they will give their account from their angle (like the 4 gospels). If you put all 4 accounts together, you get a clearer concept of the subject.

Scriptural proof should be found in a group of scriptures on the subject, not just 1 scripture. If 2 scriptures SEEM to disagree, then find some more on the subject and research it.

Sometimes if you are talking to one group, who already has a knowledge of what you are talking about, then you would not have to explain every detail, but then a different group that has no prior knowledge would need more explanation. Paul's letters are proof of that.

NOTE ON JT's comment about real Christians not being on the internet sharing the gospel -
So explain why Jesus went to where the people were to talk to them - and why he sent the 70 disciples out to where the people were so they could talk to them -- and why Paul completed all those missionary tours. IF the internet existed back then, they might have used it. Actually, a real Christian will share his/her faith wherever they have opportunity to share it.

Hi Goody2shoes2!! :) I hope you're OK. I agree with you. But Christians are still 100% human - and humans make mistakes. A genuine error must be forgiven. But anyone - Christian or otherwise - who intentionally misleads by creating scripture verses that don't exist - should be held accountable for doing that. [i.e. made to retract what they are saying] That said.. I tend to think that the main difference between a 'good' Christian and a 'not so good' Christian is in how willing they are to be humble. Humility [which God commands of a Christian] is something every Christian ought to anchor their faith on. For a Christian KNOWS that his sins have been forgiven NOT because he is anything special - but because GOD is special. Have a great day!! Craig!! :o)

It angers me sometimes but then other than Jesus its hard to be a true christian and I believe all religions that promote peace are of God in some way or the other and since I'm not God I can only believe what I believe and dont go around telling others what to do,this is why my faith Catholicism gets so much grief, because our inquisitions are over nothing can be beaten into a man.He must choose of free will and if that means i dont like someone else saying that my religion or i'm wrong etc. so be it God, will sort it out thats why hes God and I'm not

"True christians" and "false christians"? By what standard? Because you don't like what they do? Since that's the case, I can rightly claim that Josef Stalin and Kim Jong Il aren't "true atheists". It's the same argument as yours.

A christian is somebody who calls themself one and claims to be following the words of jeebus; you are not the final arbiter of who is and who isn't. Martin Luther King Jr. was a christian, and Adolf Hitler was a christian. Deal with it.

Being christian has nothing to do with being moral. Your "argument" is a pathetic copout, an attempt to avoid admitting that chirstians are capable of, have committed, and continue to commit atrocities that would sicken the hardest heart.

A real Christian would not be on the Internet preaching, which in and of itself demonstrates the person is not a real Christian and is totally ignorant of the doctrine he is pretending to be spreading.

He is spreading something, but it isn't Christianity.

Real Christians do not "preach the gospel" on or in public forums.

Ruheeeeely....lol....which verse is that exactly. False witness against your neighbour....that's just code for 'one of your own kind' ....it's okay to lie to strangers and to feed them unclean food and such. How come you guys can 'see' things from their perspective when it suits you.
