Really the only way is to use it. If you have iTunes software, there is a Japanese streaming radio station you can listen to. (Japan A Radio). It is under the International streams. I listen to this all the time at work (I translate Japanese into English for a living).
If you have cable TV or satellite TV, try to find an international channel. If you can find TV Japan, watch that. Nothings beats it.
If you have not already bought it, get the book Japanese For Busy People and get the CD/audio cassette if one is available.
The best thing to do is speak in Japanese with your Japanese friends as much as possible. Nothing beats actually speaking the language and using the words/phrases you remember. This is how I started out myself.
Good luck and enjoy your trip/stay!!

So you already know Japanese? Just get as much exposure as possible to Japanese before then. Read in Japanese, listen to Japanese music, if possible speak in Japanese with friends. I'll come back. I think 25 days is plenty of time.
