Especially those that claim their God is an all knowing, all powerful entity. If that is true, what was his specific purpose or goal for inventing those other, inferior religions?

There are two questions.
Assuming you somehow chose the correct religion (there are tens of thousands of Bible based religions), why did your God invent all those other religions?
Was he trying to be funny? Sadistic? What was his goal?

If Satan invented religions without God's permission, then that negates the claim your God is all powerful.
If God authorized other religions, he invented them, regardless who actually does the grunt work.
So, what was his purpose for doing so?

Chris, I'm not sure what your point is. Most Bible believers claim Moses wrote the Bible. And, there are literally tens of thousands of religions that all claim to be following the words of Moses, including Jews, Christians (including Mormons) and Muslims.

All religions were invented by men.
Claiming any specific religion was invented by God is illogical unless you claim all religions were invented by God.

Chris, your assertions about the bible's accuracy are totally wrong:

Moses is the foundation upon which all Bible based religions rest.

God didn't invent any religion--religion is the invention of Man. Even here on Yahoo! Answers you have people claiming to be superior to others in some form or another whether it be intellect or religious interpretation--excluding God from the equation, can we reason among ourselves why we feel so strongly as to what is superior or inferior--religion or otherwise? Do we have a specific purpose in doing this--and if so--is it the work of a supreme being or the vanity of man?

I've asked this question before and the only response i get is: "because the Bible/Jesus says so." I think they're afraid to even question whether they might be wrong about the divinity of the religion they've been taught. The bible obviously has many contradictions and falsehoods, but Christians would rather point the finger at other religions' errors. Why people think Christianity is the only path to salvation is based on nothing substantial from a factual perspective. The answer to your question is that the arrogance of humans knows no limit.

It is a pre-programmed tool of our mind to think ourselves as the greatest.
Human ego uses this tool wrongly by telling us that others are inferior
Religion is just an excuse...we see it everywhere be it nationality, color of skin, or faith or richess
There are many religions because there are groups of people with different mind evolution. We select our relgion based upon our mind-set and mental evolution.
Those who are on the lower spirituality...chose book/prophet based relgions...a little superior go for philsophy based religons
God invented diff religions keeping in mind above

If you follow a man, you get religion,
If you follow, God, Jesus, by the Holy Spirit, you get Faith,
Jesus, hated religion, and it was religion, that put Christ on the Tree.
And man's religion is in vain, because, the only way to move God, is by Faith, and if religion has no faith, then God is not in them.
And no one can know God, unless they know Jesus, because he was the only person, who died, bled out on a cross for you an I,
you have to take that from faith.
Once your faith hits a place in Gods heart, then, he becomes more real, more powerful, then any teachings, or wise words spoken by man.
Confusion, is because there are so many religions,
when there is only one God, one Christ, and one Holy Spirit.
And only one Faith.

This is an ignorant question!
However, I will attempt to answer it just in case you might be sincere?
People claim that their "religion" is superior out of ignorance!
"RELIGION" is man-made, and as such, obviously God did "not" invent those other, (or any), religions. Man did!
Every "religion" has it's own little rules, laws, rituals, and ceremonies, etc... according to some man's, (or group's), pre-conceived notions. And with some good salesmanship, (or a BIG SWORD?), sold to an unsuspecting, gullible, (or fearful), flock!

It's the backward monkey in them talking. The less socially, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually developed someone is, the more they divide and segregate people with fascism, superiority concepts, elitism, gated communities, racism, sexism, border fences, classes, caste systems, ranks, and religious delusions of having cornered some spiritual market and all the first class seats to heaven. At best, these people are snobs. At worse, they make lampshades out of human skin.

There *are* tens of thousands of "Bible based" religions...but God didn't create them all--man did. God/Jesus established One church (with one person to lead it till He comes back Matt 16:18-19) and that church has lasted till today since He created it.
All the other churches were created by people who broke away from this one church because they had their own beliefs. This One, Holy and Apostolic church is the Catholic Church, and it is the only one given authority by Christ.

They're insecure about their small manhoods.
Seriously. Its all ego. Obviously, we beleive that the religion we beleive in is the best, or else we wouldn't be a part of it. But that does not invalidate any other religion, or make it morally superior. That's a sign of an overly big ego and an overly small sense of self-confidence.

first - god didnt invent other religions, retared people did because they wanted to be cool
second - would you follow a god whos less powerfull than someone elses?
third - theres only one god. every other is made up by people wanting people to follow
them (buhdda, joesph smith, that one guy who made up the muslim religion)
in the begining god created the heaven and the earth and that god is the only true god.
he didnt alow the other religions, he gave people free will to chose weather or not they will love him.
send me an email

moses didnt write the bible. he wrote a few books in the begining and other people wrote the rest. these were words god gave to them and protected throughout time. the bible is the oldest and most scientificly accurate book in history and thus far no one has proved it wrong.
moses was the only person to see even a glimpse of god and his face glowed from the glory of god after that and he had to cover his face. joesph smith claimed to see god and jesus face to face and had no physical alteration and he didnt die although god said anyone who would see my face would die.
he made up storys of people who we have no proof of while every city in the bible can be proven (like jerico and the city walls that collasped outward)
god left these things so we know what to belive by reaserching history.
then how does history seem to follow along with the bible in all anceint countries?
like creation, the flood, the tower of babel?
