Almost 2 months ago my friends son and I were traveling on bus to take him home. We couldn't sit together on the bus because it was full (it wouldn't have been if we'd been put on the right bus in the first place) but anyway, I sat as close as I could to him, which just happened to be next to a guy. This was very early in the morning, and every time I went to close my eyes he started to brush his hand on my thigh. Needless to say, I was a mess, I was angry, I was scared, I was shaken up. Then to top it all off, we couldn't get on the bus that was taking us to Dallas because it was full. The grey hound people were not helpful at all, and they made it seem like I was just stupid or something. I don't know if I have the right to feel assulted or if I really was just paranoid about the whole thing? Let me add, that I have very high standards and one of them is to wait until marriage to have sex, and that's part of why I felt like i did...am I wrong to still be angry about it?

I would not say you were sexually assulted. I would say you were mildy sexually harrassed.

From much reading public frottage is a dangerous game that people of both sexes play. Nancy Friday asks in her book "women on top" why so many people think this is harmless and not dangerous.

It is understandable to be angry .. but you also must needs to handle yourself better if this happens again. the first time had plausable deniablity on both sides. the first or second time you don't say what you did but it does not say that you politely and firmly said no.. and then if things continued you did not keep your eyes open nor did you throw a hissy fit right then and there. And when you did report it .. he was long gone and would have been difficult if not impossible to catch or prove.

Also Note your friend or his son did not see this or say anything either. So there were no other witnesses. This is why you came across as stupid to the authorities.

And With what you have said .. he might have been stupid enough or horny enough to believe that you liked it cause you did not say anything. I am not kidding on this. But you must stick up for yourself.

Please get over the anger .. and use it to claim your space and use it to get what you want.

And I hope you find the right person for a lifetime.

No. You should have asked for a different seat for you and your friend's son. Things aren't always black and white and when you are uncomfortable with the shade of gray, you need to speak up.

There was a woman whose daughter rode the school bus. The driver asked the little girl to sit on his lap or something like that. The mother screamed bloody hell. People thought she was crazy. She said her job isn't to appear sane, it is to protect her child. The bus driver was arrested later on for some sort of molestation against another child.

The greyhound people were stupid or something. That pervert had no right to violate you. You're entitled to feel all that you've been feeling. You must be v-e-r-y careful around men of all ages. I can't tell how many times I've had to change my seat on a bus, because a pervert sat down next to me, and started making moves.

nope -- i can't believe people on the bus wouldn't let you sit together -- maybe you are still lacking the skills to herd people -- if you are ever in the same situation again feel free to make a scene to get your way both on the bus and in the station. you are paying the ticket and you should get some amount of respect.

You need to grow up. If a stranger on a bus touches you inappropriately you tell them to stop and keep their hands to themselves. That's what a strong woman does. A wimp will do nothing and then whine about it later.

No, men are pigs! He definitely sounds like he was copping a feel. I would complain to the Greyhound company about the whole experience. Not the branch, the big wigs. Look online and find out what you can do about that.

i wouldnt say you were assaulted exactly but you had the right to yell then and there keep your hands off of me!!!! you can sue the bus company if you wish, but i dont know how far that will get you, dont get scared, just get mad, you are a bit of a prude but you were touched, not raped. i dont know why you are quite so mad, if you were that upset you should have just yelled at him on the bus and gotten him thrown off.
