if a powered "booster" aerial isn`t working (try that first, from any electrial shop) it looks like the cheapest option is to get a freeview box or a base rate cable package

it looks like you have ariel problems or bad reception.for a quick fix i recomend a video sender.this device can be plugged into your sky digi box of freeview box.its sends a signal to a small device which you plug into your daughters tv.there is no wiring involved and you can even get video senders which can change the channel.watch the bid up and price drop sattelite channels these devices come up on sale for about 30 pounds on there.failing that check out maplins on your high street.don't listen to advice about boosters if you have a bad reception to start with the booster will only amplify your problem.good luck anyway

ok first thing you need to do is check what reception in that area is like, freeviw box is no good if reception is bad, best idea is to find a small local dealer in that area and just ask they will know better than your superstores, take their advise before you spend any cash, where i live you cant have a portable tv as signals crap

You can try a signal booster (less expensive) or a TV card for her PC.

I know it sounds off the wall next to all the high tech answers you are getting, but......
If there is a tall tree just outside her window wire the ariel into it.
You'll see.

If your daughter is at uni shouldn't she be sorting that kind of stuff out herself? you must be really embarrassing her.
