I am driving from San Francisco to Los Angeles along the PCH. I'm only taking 2 days to do it - Any advice on the best places to stop? My dog is coming with me.

monterey bay and Carmel are beautiful and if you get as far as Huntington beach they have a wonderful dog beach and cafe that you can take your dogs and they even have a dog menu that you can order treats for your dogs .

That's a wonderful drive. Definitely stop in Santa Cruz! It's amazing there. You should stop at Magic Mountain theme park (though it isn't right along the coast, it is along the way to LA from SF) too, since it is closing really really soon.
You should also definitely check out, like the person above me posted, the Monterey Bay (And the aquarium!!! The monterey bay aqarium is totally awesome. You should check out the jellyfish part.) Monterey Bay is like the most ecologically diverse marine area in our remote location (I live in SF). Whales, otters, lots of stuff beneath the surface...

Motel 6's are pet friendly if you decide to just meander and explore. Morro Bay is a lot of fun and right north of it check out Harmony, a "town" of 16. It's an enclave of craftspeople (glassblowers, etc.) and they have this whole Harmony thing going. Cambria is really cool and if you make reservations San Simeon is also great.

Wherever you can get petrol and some food. They should have toilets too. Car is number one. Look after your pooch, occasional pee stops are always good. Then keep yourself alert. Food and rest should do it, with a shower at some point to freshen up.

you could do it in 14-16 hrs yet thats somewhat gettin on with this technique no stops except for gasoline and perchance a chew to devour as far as stops theres an impressive strip club in medford
