Probably nothing. Dream theroists believe that dreams are random impulses to the brain.

We use dreams to process information. Dreams bring together bits of info (could be data, an emotion, a memory, a sound.... anything that we've experienced) and the dream is sort of like a maths equation, the solving part can sometimes be done during the dream,- sometimes we go back to the same dream, or a similar dream (representing the same problem) - but sometimes the problem solving can be done in the waking world using dream analysis.
Sometimes things are too complicated to just appear as they usually are in your dream, so they take the shape of something else. The imagery our brains choose to represent things is very personal. This is why dream interpretation books can be very mis-leading. Also asking other people will only help by prompting you to think about it yourself. I kept dreaming about an old friend of mine and I couldn't work out why, when I relaxed and thought about what (in the waking world) was her and my relationship all about, it seemed that she and I had gone through some big changes together. Her image was what my subconscious had chosen to represent changes, and I was dreaming about her because (surprise surprise) I was going through some changes. Don't forget that your dreams are created entirely by you, if you relax and don't force it, you'll be surprised how often the meaning just pops out at you (even though it can sound like a bit of a stretch of meaning to someone else). The more you do it, the easier it becomes- obviously. I know you don't want to hear that, I don't want to practice anything. Anyhow, despite my long answer, do remember that some dream equations will have answers that are very dull. If it gives you pleasure, and satisfaction to analyse your dreams, go for it, but forget about the ones you don't resolve- it really don't matter. :)

I think it just means that you were thinking of your friend's father and your mom at the same time because of the cancer.
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I lost my dad to cancer 10 years ago. It seems so long when we say 10 years, but it seems just like yesterday at times.

A person’s life is full of dreams. Dream can be about one’s ambition which he gets fulfilled with the passage of time thru his own hard work, intelligence, good planning and with the blessings of Almighty. Another is day dreaming which is really not a good habit and can be controlled with one’s will power. But what about the dreams a person experiences during sleep. Do they hv effect in our real life? What do they mean? What is their interpretation? The person asks to his friends, elders and seniors in his social circle. Sometimes he gets satisfactory reply and sometimes not. These days Internet is a rich source of information. So one does not need to depend on others for one’s dream interpretation. The Yahanswerholics Community member suggests the following.

yes it means you were asleepl had a dream and woke up, and remembered it. Dreams are only our brain assimilating the events of the day. Shall I go on. cannot be bothered. but. your dream means you were asleep and it was your brain coping with your awake (often subliminal) thoughts you had during the day. Ask a doctor. ask anyone. That is all dreams are when you are asleep. Now, awake dreams, thats another matter.... you have to really realise them.......!

Refer to Tamla M . And when you say that she woke you up, means it is better for you to be more realistic and dealing with alive people if you want success in your relationship. Be happy!

When you dream of loved ones past , that is them trying to tell you something, can you remember what your mother said? It could be a way of letting you know she approves of your lady.

Perhaps you were subconciously thinking about your mother. So you dreamt about her.
