You can get those boil and bite mouth guards or sports guards, whatever they may be called, that are sold at most drugstores. All you do is put them in boiling water and then put them in your mouth to form to your teeth and bite. Anything would be better than grinding his teeth away, which can cause a lot of pain from ligaments being irritated and more cost of repairing broken or ground down teeth. Our office charges about $300 for the custom made night guards. If you have insurance, some companies will pay for them.

Think about the night guard the next time you buy a cup of coffee, go out to lunch, go to a movie, buy or rent a video, get those nice pumps at the shoe store, find that blouse you just have to have, order pizza from dominos instead of cooking, ect ect ect..............

Quit making excuses and find the money. I guarantee you waste at least that much money a week on unnecessary items. If not in a week, definitely in a month. Either find a way or make a way.

Tough love sucks huh?

Most people probably grind and clench their teeth from time to time. Occasional teeth grinding, medically called bruxism, does not usually cause harm, but when teeth grinding occurs on a regular basis the teeth can be damaged and other complications can arise.
Although teeth grinding can be caused by stress and anxiety, it often occurs during sleep and is more likely caused by an abnormal bite or missing or crooked teeth.
-Avoid or cut back on foods and drinks that contain caffeine, such as colas, chocolate, and coffee.

-Avoid alcohol. Grinding tends to intensify after alcohol consumption.
-Do not chew on pencils or pens or anything that is not food. Avoid chewing gum as it allows your jaw muscles to get more used to clenching and makes you more likely to grind your teeth.
Train yourself not to clench or grind your teeth. If you notice that you clench or grind during the day, position the tip of your tongue between your teeth. This practice trains your jaw muscles to relax.
Relax your jaw muscles at night by holding a warm washcloth against your cheek in front of your earlobe.

Go to target or other drugstore and buy The Doctor's Night Guard - it's about $20 and you can shape it to fit. They have different sizes (s,m,l) or if you don't want to spend $20 go to a sporting goods store and get a mouth guard used for football/boxing - boil water and leave it in for about 40 seconds and then shape to fit (remember to put in cold water before you put in mouth). Good luck!

LOL! Worms don't make people grind their teeth. I tried cheap boil & bite guards. They don't fit. Luckily my insurance covered a real one from the dentist. Friggin' thing was over $300!
Why don't you wear earplugs?

Get a sports mouth guard, its the same thing. I spent 300 dollars on a special fitted mouth guard, and my son plays sports. I lost my mouth piece and used a sports one, the same thing, only the sports mouth guard is only $2.
