USAF veteran here. You leave home an innocent young man with hopes and dreams, with no idea what awaits you.

When you return you become cynical, you clearly see why you were never given the big picture in the beginning.

All in all, it showed me that we are all on one planet, one species and that we MUST learn to get along, that our politicians have no clue on the reality of the world. Till such time that they do, more and more young soldiers will return home in flag covered boxes.

Well, for me, My temper changed a little at first but now it's back to where it was before I went. My attitude I feel hasn't changed much. However, thoughts on life, I see things back in the states that would have been a big deal before I went are now not such a big deal when compared to the grand scheme of things. I have a much higher respect for life now than I ever have. I may not agree with why we are over there but the troops will always have my support. If told to go back I wouldn't fuss. It's my job."Veterans have a taste for freedom the protected will never know"- Author Unknown

Army Vet OIF& OEF 2003-2005
My thoughts on life, I value it more.
My attitude, irritated that I was sent to a country looking for WMD's and we're still there still fighting and more and more are dying everydayand we still haven't found the WMD's. We caught the punk running the place, great, let's go home, but no let's keep fighting and see how long we can drag it out, let's see of they'll just give up, so we can get all the oil and turn the people into westerners.
Sad thing is I'd go back if I had to, but I can get shot just as quickly at home, I'll just move to Wshington DC

I enlisted after 9-11, When I swore in, everyone was flying flags and supporting the troops. I never dreamed we would be turned on by the people we were protecting, by the people waving the flags that day. People, mainly from the "opposition party" have rushed to hold hands with the enemy, defend them, demand unheard of rights and liberties for the throatcutters and the most vile creatures ever to be called a human.

This country must remember who flies planes into its buildings, remember who defends them, and remember what the price of failure is.
