OA works better for some people than for others. Even if it doesn't "cure" you -not a great term to use for this illness which is always going to be hidden within you for the rest of your life - it is a good source of mutual support and comfort. Those who receive freedom from the food, tend to be those who don't just attend the meetings, but those who work the 12 steps -the root of the programme. It really is this that helps you to get better.
The people do not seem at all weird, just perfectly normal. They are always very friendly too as they want to make everyone, especailly newcomers, feel as welcome as possible.
