I have a friend who was diagnosed of having astigmatism. He is having occasional headache attacks. His vision seem blurred when an attack is about to come. The headache is terrible, according to him, it feels like his blood is rushing up to his head. Are these symptoms of astigmatism? Or was he misdiagnosed?

Astigmatism is just a defect in your cornea that causes blurry vision. Instead of being perfectly domed, the cornea has a bump or dent in it. I have a slight astigmatism in one of my eyes and I can never see quite clearly out of it. It could be the vision problem that is causing his headaches. Wearing glasses will probably help him.

Blur is blur. Nothing is distinct. Detail can't be made out. The higher the astigmatism , the worse it is of course. Small amounts of astigmatism can cause shadows around letters, or slight doubling of letters , and letters being stretched out at an angle. Straight lines being pulled out of shape. With high astigmatism most of those symptoms don't exist anymore because they have just become a blur instead. Fairly high astigmatism like you have mixed with high myopia would make it difficult to tell . You probably can't tell where the astigmatism blur starts because of all the myopia.

In severe astigmatism, vision is blurred or distorted whether the person is reading close up or looking further into the distance. In milder cases the person may complain that vision is blurred at certain distances, that they've tired or dry eyes, that it's a struggle to focus or read, or that they've headaches, especially when trying to focus.

If his doctor did an eye exam based on the symptoms you've stated and found astigmatism is the cause, then that's probably what he has. However, if he feels something else may be going on, he should get a 2nd opinion, though it's not hard for an eye doctor to tell whether or not a person has it.
