don't let those answerers give you a bunch of guff...gold is where you find it! but if you are serious about looking for gold, then the best place to search would be up north. since gold weighs so much, the bigger pieces will tend to settle down farther upstream. my recommendation would be to fly into fairbanks and head to the gold dredge national park up there. those guys can answer your questions better than i can. good luck and good hunting!
