I would love to see the regime in the District of Corruption decree a draft, not because I support it or find it Constitutional (it's not -- see the 13th Amendment), but because a draft will FORCE the American People to face & deal with the Neo-Con Artists' criminality.

I have come to the belief that at age 18 (or as soon as a person graduates from High School if they are still in school at 18) EVERYONE should be REQUIRED by law (legal or illegal immigrant) to do some type of service for this country for a minimum of two years. This could be military service, Peace Corps, Habitat for Humanity, other humanitarian service or some other volunteer activity that will help others either in the USA or some foreign country.
This belief has developed over three decades of watching young people trying to "find themselves" and/or going into activities like school teachers with little to no real life experiences. I suspect that if we instituted something along this line, that we would start seeing a lot fewer people in jail and or doing some very crazy things in their life as they would finally have a chance to see how others around the world really live.
This country is so blessed and prosperous that many people who are born here do not know what it means to work for a living. In essence, we are become soft.
Why is it that at age sixth-five, over 80 percent of the people will be basically broke in the richest country on earth. And yet, there are many people who immigrate to this country "legally" and work very hard and make a very good life for themselves and their families. And yet, we have generations on various government handouts.
So to your question, do I believe the US will resurrect the draft. Probably not! However, I would like to make a humble suggestion that we do change the way we think about things in the world.
Learn the Platinum Rule -
Do unto others as they would be done unto!
Anytime you use the Golden Rule, you are guaranteed to cause conflict - as many people do not want to be done unto as you want to be treated!

The problems that would result from a draft would make me pause before ever considering a draft.
The disciplinary problems alone are the stuff of nightmares to commanders. You would have a bunch of people who have little desire to serve, being forced to do so. They would rebel at the most inopportune times, too. Not enough to get into trouble, but enough to annoy the heck out of the leadership.
It's better to have a professional Army that has those who are motivated to serve.

I wouldn't mind. There are a lot of freedoms that we have here in this country that people take advantage of and, like the saying goes, freedom isn't free. I would be more than willing to accept the call if I was drafted, although I don't know what would become of it since I have already unsucessfuly pursued joining the military of my own free will.

They probably will anyway, but NO.
Nothng is worse than having a soldier who doesn't want to be there, think he'll charge that hill for you?
The military needs poeple who want to serve, not Forced to.
Were you a Pac clerk or a cook?
No one wants war, if they do they have some screws loose.
Our el-presidente seems to be picking a lot of fights right before he gets out of office. Don't you think enough soldiers have lost their lives already? One soldiers life lost was one to many.
Hell No there shouldn't be a draft. I would rather go fight then see my son drug off into it.
What do I tell him, oh the combat pay is great honey, granted you dont get your freakin legs blown off.
They draft my kid they had better damn well draft me with him.

no, i dont think the draft is an american practice. were supposed to be a free country, free to make our own choices. if the war in iraq brought this question to be this war should have stopped years ago. the draft is forcing people who might not beilieve in what their fighting for to fight, the military should consist of people who want to be there.

We won't need a draft. We'll have plenty of folks who will volunteer, rather than go to prison for not registering with the Selective Service when they turned 18.

I would love to fight for our Country depending on the war!
But the draft is too much, we would have people who doesnt want to join running off to Canada and people who hate the military refusing to pick up a gun...
Professionals who love their job does a job better then ones who are forced to...

No. Today's wars are not fought with the kind of soldiers that need to be drafted. Only with the kind of soldier that understands what's at stake well enough to volunteer.... will we win today's war. And thank God for them.

I believe in a draft irregardless of what happens in Iraq.
If I could go, I would be gone...Not because I like Bush so much, and certainly nothing I have read on here would make me want to go, but because I want to fight for my country so much.
