It sounds like you have just recently started taking the antidepressants. Once your body gets used to having them in your system, the dreams should stop. Antidepressants have tons of side effects once you start them, but the side effects eventually do stop.

Happens to me all the time....and I actually really like it. I am able to control my dreams to a point, but the vividness of them makes for an interesting sleep. I am able to restart my dreams once I go back to sleep. If I fall asleep with the tv on, I will have dreams that I am part of what ever was on tv. It happens more when I am feeling good when I go to sleep. It is almost like my mind is telling me a story and a lot of the times it is more exciting then my own life. LOL
If your dreams/nightmares are scaring you then talk to your doctor about it...if they are just vivid dreams and you can control them, have a little fun with it and maybe it will make you feel better.

Since I started taking antidepressants I do not remember my dreams when I wake up.
I have a good friend who had the problem you are having. She never did get used to it and went off the medication and was OK. It was alright for her to go off the medication as she was taking it for a pain problem rather than depression.
I do not really think this is normal. If this does not go away by your next appointment with your doctor, I would see about trying a different medication.

When I took anti-depressants the same thing happened. I had really bad nightmares and they seemed so real that when I woke up it really felt like it had happened and took a little while to realize that the crazyness was all a dream. I was taking the drugs before bed at night. I made a Drs appointment because it was affecting my everyday life. All I had to do was start taking it in the AM and it stopped happening.

I did the same thing while on a certain antidepressant.. i won't say which one.. but as soon as I switched the dreams stopped. I understand, I woke up crying and screaming on many occasions. You just need to change meds and that should do the trick... good luck

I went through this on one of the antidepressants. Forget which one. Only mine were nightmares. It was horrific. What it could be although this is just my theory, is that you are returning to normal REM sleep after having been messed up for a while. So you are noticing more dreams. For me it was a side effect of the drug I was on. One of the old ones.

although I don't have this problem with my antidepressants, my friend does!! She says her dreams are like she is right there and she also tries to wake herself up. This is a normal side effect. Remember the antidepressants are changing your brain chemistry.

Very normal. As a matter of fact, I have more fun in my dreams than in real life now because of the meds.

You need to speak to the person who prescribed the antidepressants. You are possibly having a reaction to the drug.
