We waste enough of our tax dollars...is this "fence" really necessary?

If you want my opinion, this is ridiculous. Do I want a bunch of illegals running the border? No...but there must be a better way. A fence will do absolutely nothing, except waste money that could be used elsewhere.

Just in case some of you wackos come back to look...

...holy cow, you have a screw loose, and you know who you are.

You honestly think building a fence will keep people out? Next thing you will need is to mine the ocean border and set up ground-to-air missile batteries along the border.

A fence won't slow anything down. I like the technology idea of using UAV's and such, if it is funded well enough to actually work.

How many tens/maybe hundreds of billions of dollars have gone down the black hole of unrefunded social services provided to illegal aliens? I say build ALL 2,000 miles of the fence, but I'll take 700 as a good start, an honest effort in the right direction...

Under the measure, the secretary of homeland security would have 18 months to achieve "operational control" of the U.S. frontier, using unmanned aerial vehicles, ground-based sensors, satellites, radar and cameras to prevent all unlawful U.S. entries. Fortifying those requirements, Congress approved $1.2 billion in a separate homeland security spending bill to bankroll the fence.

It will never be built, it's just a political ploy to appease the masses to vote republican in the election. I don't know why they even do this stuff anyway, they own the voting machines it's not like they are going to loose.
ALSO, don't forget if a wall is put up to keep OUT the illegals it can be use to keep US in. Does East Berlin mean anything to anyone?

It sure does mean something - it worked for hundreds of years and failed only when they stopped keeping it up.

Check your history.

It isn't enough, but it is a start.
