NATIONAL CITY – In response to Mayor Nick Inzunza's declaration that he wants National City to become a sanctuary for illegal immigrants, the city's police union said its members will continue to comply with state and federal law and not fall prey to the “political whims of a misinformed politician.”

During Tuesday night's City Council meeting, Dennis Leach, president of the National City Police Officers Association, read aloud a letter addressed to the council, city manager, city staff and “conspicuously absent mayor

We think the vast majority of people in National City and San Diego County do not want this,” said Jeff Schwilk, who heads the San Diego Minutemen. “It's one thing to be neutral and not take a strong position, but to declare a sanctuary city – some people see it as declaring war and 'screw the American laws.' ”

The minutemen had a100 people rally against it during the week, and pro-illegals had a counter rally. An ANTI was taken away by police this time, for a wonder. However, today the pro-illegals are going to have a rally.

I think sanctuary cities violate federal law, myself.

Hey! Let 'em swarm there by the millions! It'll be easier and cheaper than chasing them around the countryside to catch 'em! Gas is muy expensive! We'll just fence 'em in and ship 'em South!! As far as the mayor goes - toss him out! The oath of office includes upholding the laws. God Bless the USA!!!

Mayor Nick Inzunza needs to be tarred, feathered and run back to Mexico on a rail.....if he loves it he needs to live it!

Meanwhile....place a real American in his place until a special election...complete with officials checking voters to be sure they are LEGAL....is held.

Cowardly "conspicuously absent mayor"!
