It's not C&C. it's CNC, for Computer-Numerical-Control. CNC techniques are widely used in machining metal these days; no reason why it couldn't be done with wood, only there would probably be less demand for it and then it would take longer to recoup the unvestment in the tool.

A CNC machine can be a lathe or miller or jointer or almost any metal (wood) working machine, as long as it is controlled by a computer driving stepper motors. Once it is programmed, it can repeatedly make identical pieces as long as you want.
