Carry him through the baby section of your local store and carry him to a jewler that has a good selection of engagement rings then if that don't work say you are thinking of marriage. Your hints should be as subtle as a brick to the head. If all else fails ask him.

my sister got married to her guy after about 4 months of dating, and a couple of years on, still together and have a daughter called Claire. so you don't have to be together at least a year before getting married as others are telling you. just be patient about the whole marriage thing, wait a little longer...depending on how serious you's are as a couple and also on how much respect he has for you...simlpy ask him a question such as "have you ever thought of settling down and getting married one day?" treat it as an open question not a direct question or perhaps just as you are passing a jewellery store stop and look at the beautiful diamond rings, and say something like, "isn't that beauuuutiful, i wish i could afford it, it's just so nice" but you can say it different than that though if you want but as you are saying that rub your wedding ring finger in front of him hopefully he'll take the hint, some men are just so thick and don't take notice of things like that so if that don't work just go right out and tell him "i wanna get married" he should take the hint there haha. anyways best of luck!!!! :-)

In all seriousness, I think there may be plenty of cards out there (the kind that are I love you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you cards) that would be a great nudge, but not an outright whack!
If he does not pick up on the hint, he is either not ready, or don't want to.

How long have you been together? I cannot imagine considering marriage before a year or more...but if you *really* feel marriage is in your future...communication is the key, find a nice neautral place and time and steer the conversation to "long-term", bring it up and see where it goes...good luck!

Start discussing your future plans like, no of kids you want to have, where do you want to live, etc with him and bring his name off and on in this discussion. He will come to know that you want to marry him and you will also come to know whether he is ready to marry you or just passing time.

i'm hoping you've been with him for atleast a year ... there really isn't anyway to let them know ... most hints scare the crap out of them ... just start looking at rings at the mall and/or start talking in long term goals ...

Start acting interested in babies....he'll either freak out or start planning your future family. Then you can say...just think they're cute, that's all...or ,how soon after we get married should we have one? depending on his reaction.
