Christians are normal people, they only strive to be good, they sin like the next person, some are more better at being a christian & may not drink or swear etc etc .I don't think it is a sin to have a drink Jesus drank wine, but if you were to over do it & destroy your body by having to much to drink that will be a sin i think.

Many Christians don't drink. Paul said that drinking leads to debauchery and drunkeness is of the sinful nature. We are to exercise self-control (one of the fruits of the Spirit) by not getting drunk.

However I don't think it is a sin to have a few drinks in moderation. Jesus' first public miracle was turning water into wine. I believe that alcohol is like money; it is amoral. It is what we do with it that makes it immoral.

Many Christians (and others too) swear off the drink because of the temptations it opens up. Also many Christian oraganizations insist their employees or members don't drink because of the differing opinions on the subject, not because it is sinful.

There is nothing sinful about drinking alcohol provided you don't get drunk because once you do get drunk, you lose control and this will lead you to sin, such as having sex or doing other sinful things. And one more thing, I am a Christian but I do not plan to get drunk.

I'm a christian and drink a little bit every day. not to drunkenness, but just for health's sake. i like the flavored beers (sissy!!!) but know plenty of other christians who drink wine, mixed drinks, etc. you're probably not going to find someone who has a life-changing view of faith who will also line up 6 shots at a bar, but, depending on the denomination, many will have wine or anything not too hard. there's a verse in the bible that says do not be drunk with wine but be filled with the spirit. i guess that means that a christian does not want to give her mind completely over to alcohol when she's supposed to be giving her mind to her faith.

Christians are pretty much like everyone else. They have their share of problem drinkers. There is nothing wrong with an occasional drink, even St. Paul recommends it as an aid in digestion. Yes, getting drunk would be a sin and is specifically mentioned in Scripture.

If they are truly following the word then they do not get drunk. Have an occasional drink, certainly. God is offended by drunkards; but Jesus allowed (and made) wine at the wedding. I like a nice glass of Merlot every now and again. I have even been known to drink a frosty Mai Tai or two.

Yes. A lot of them do. There is no commandment against getting drunk in the Bible. Noah gets drunk in one passage, so does Lot - and has sexual relations with his daughters (It's a descendance thing) and there is, of course, the wedding at Canaan and Jesus changing water into wine. However, Deuteronomy tells parents they should have their children stoned (no pun intended) if they are 'Worthless drunkards'.
So while the Bible doesn't necessarily condemn drunkenness as such, it opposes it, as a way of life.

Christians do get drunk. Not all. Christians do many things that you could say are worse than non-Christians. It happens when we give in to "self" or the "flesh" and avoid the Holy Spirit and the direction it is convicting us. The wine thing in the Bible is very confusing. But, when properly translated, "wine" in the Bible does not mean the alcoholic version we know today-it was grape juice. Our savior Jesus Christ, was holy and did not partake of alcohol.
