Hard how?? I mean it takes practice to get good. I think when you first play the flute it is a little awkward to get a sound from it, but with practice it isn't a problem.

My mom plays flute as well as my niece. I also work with school bands some and I know that beginning students often show to be good on the flute mouthpiece just because it is easier to find the notes on it. Just like anything it takes lots of practice and patience, but is generally pretty easy to learn.

It's a little hard to get a sound out of in the beginning because you're not blowing directly into a mouthpiece or on a reed. Once you get past that, it's not harder than any other wind instrument. Every instrument has its own unique challenges.

i think it's hard as hell, but i am not musically inclined...other people can paint, or sculpt, or are good at math...keep searching until you find what you are good at...maybe you're good at trying differnt things and not getting down when it's not your passion...maybe you won't find your talent for 40 years...keep searching

If you don't have any respiratory problems then it should only be a case of practice, practice and practice some more.
