Yes. Romans 14. We have free will. God is still in control, His ways are not our ways, neither are our thoughts His thoughts.

That is what the Bible says.

We should not criticize them and question their motives..... but then the same holds true for God. Don't we sometimes question Him and the reason He allows things to happen?

Im not so sure about choosing but I do know that GOD has used just and unjust leaders to accomplish his will.

Saul was made king by GOD.
The people would sing that Saul killed his thousands and David his tens of thousands. The people set in motion GODs plan. Maybe the mockers are doing that also. I wouldn't know. Saul was removed by GOD.

I am not against anything. I am for Jesus. I do not like George Bush but I pray for him the same way I pray for my family.

GOD Bless ya

Well Brother Klay, Back in Bibical days the Isralites wanted a king like other nationshad, who did not serve the true living God, as the isralites did, these people were called heathens, so there fore God did not want Israel to have a King, He was their God and King and would always be, but the Isralites insisted, So God allowed them to select Saul, But Saul was never in Gods will or choice to have rule over His people, even though He did allow it, and later Saul, killed prophets, offered sacrifices to God in the Preists stead,he was also jealous and hated lil David, finally he disobeyed God and failed his duties as a King over Gods people. Well God rejected Saul.and sent His Prophet Samuel to anoint lil`David, (the son of Jesse) to be king over Israel. because God would then allow the peoples King, Saul and his son Jonathan to be killed in a war. David was Gods choice to reign over His people, and it would be so. David would become King of Judah first, then later He would also fulfill his call from God to reign over Israel. The same goes for us today, A lot of these people we choose (for what ever reason) to preside over our country, IS NOT GODS Choice, But he will allow it to be so, it won`t be long that we`ll find out that they have too many defects, but If we would truly seek Gods face, asking him to help us make the right choice for President, Govenor, etc. He would give us the best, and things would be a lot better.as long as we keep making wrong choices, then motives and decissions will continue to be scrutinized, and for good cause.

Since man was created, he has wanted to believe that God was watching over him and guiding his every move. This just isn't true. God does not choose anything, he just knows what the choice will be. Any government official that thinks or says that God wanted him or her to be in that powerful position is doing one of two things. 1 they are trying to convince themselves that God did it so they don't have to feel that they are responsible for what happens or 2 they are trying to make the ppl they govern believe that God chose them so the ppl will just accept that they are the rulers. Either way, it is someone trying to lie to "someone".

It is true that in the book called The Bible, God chose many leaders.
Does that mean that what is written in a book, any book, should be taken as the absolute truth? I don't think so.
I am a believer in God.
And because I am a rational human being, capable of logical thought, I believe it is foolish to base one's understanding of faith or Divinity on what another person says or has written.
We are all searching for God and/or the truth of our existence.
There is no one on earth that can speak for God.
Anyone who pretends to be any closer to God than you are is trying to con you out of money or your freedom to think for yourself.
If you believe that God gave you a brain, then you must believe He wanted you to use it to think.
God is insulted by so-called "believers" who will blindly follow any self-professed "prophet" . Whether that "prophet" be named Falwell, the Pope, or Osama.
If you think I'm kidding, try googling Rev. Jim Jones before you drink the kool-aid!

What happened is that in the Old testament times God used to be the only king, ruler or whatever you want to call it for the Israelites. They however decided that they wanted to have a king. So God said that if they wanted a king God would be the one who would choose it. Now a days we decide who we want to be our rulers and hope that God is leading us to decide to choose the right person.
And we critizise them because we are selfish and no one is perfect.

God does not choose our leaders, we do it by free will voting. In the case of kings in the Old Testament, God did indeed choose David and Solomon. Other than that, he raised up judges to bring the people back to him.

It is very true that God is in control of everything.

Romans gives a very detailed explanation of this, including mentioning that God puts every leader, good and bad into that position or out of that position.
