Had a sore tooth for about a month, i thought the pain had gone away, but it woke me up tonight. The tooth hurting is one with an old filling, I have used nearly a whole tube of orajel and 3 aspirin and an 1 hour later, it is still hurting badly. (Usually a few aspirin does the trick). If i went to the hospital, could they pull the tooth out..as i can't really afford to go to the hospital for pain killers and THEN the dentist.

I think you have an abscessed tooth. It happened to me. Basically, there is an infection in your tooth under the filing. Your pain is only going to get worse, it was the worst pain I had ever experienced. You need to call your dentist immediately, use their emergency contact info. Your dentist will prescribe some antibiotics and pain killers. You will feel 100 times better. You will then need to go to the dentist in a day or two to have a root canal done. They will not have your tooth pulled.

Usually, there is not a dentist on service in a hospital emergency room.
In addition to using the pain medication of your choice, sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head. Sleep on the side that does NOT have a toothache. If that doesn't work, you can move to a recliner or the sofa so you can keep your head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain. This might help you make it through the night until you can see a dentist.

Your tooth stopped hurting because the nerves were dying. Now the infection has reached some new nerve.
Get to the dentist. A hospital will probably not pull your tooth.

There should be a dental clinic at your local county health department that will do work on a sliding scale based on your income. If you go to the hospital all they will do is numb it and send you home.
If you crush an aspirin and apply it directly to the tooth it works better than swallowing it.
Hope it helps :)

I don't know what to say but I think your tooth is growing or your having teeth pains or large sores that when you bite on them they become worse and you have to put some mouth medicine on it to to make it numb and doesn't hurt anymore!
