Not in the United States! Local anesthesia (lidocaine, lido with epi, novocaine, and marcaine are controlled substances - only available to a doctor or a PA). Not only would you have to get ahold of the mediation, you would also have to get ahold of a sterile needle of the right size, syringe, and have knowledge of sterile techniques. You would have to know at what angle to inject the medication and how much you would need to inject. And there are some local anesthesias that should not be injected into certain parts of the body, or else you could risk damaging the blood flow to that body part. The choice of anesthesia also depends on what procedure you are performing.
So, do yourself a favor, and leave the procedures to the doctors and PAs!

There is a saying in medicine "a person who treats himself, treats a fool"...and there are limited areas on the body that are readily accessible with both hands...a nicked vessel needs two hands and some people go into anaphylactic shock with locals...so you need to have a defibrillator, epinephrine, or better still a crash cart with IVs, and assorted medications....but if you are in shock, how could you do anything? Have you learned to infiltrate the area, aspirate the syringe, maintain aseptic technique? Sound complicated?,,,That's why physicians spend 12 years or so preparing to do that simple procedure.
