I couldnt eat in front of any boy when I was in my teens. I used to be so hungry when I came home from a date that I would raid the fridge....lol I think its normal in young teenage years because we want to appear to be so "good" When you become more sure of yourself...when you become confident, it wont matter who you eat in front of. I think this is all a part of growing up...Except of course if you dont eat at all...thats when it becomes a problem....but if you are eating and are not anorexic or bulemic, then I cant see a big problem....when you feel more comfortable and confident, eating in front of your boyfriend wont be a problem.

How long have you been with him? Haha that's exactly how I used to be when I started dating my boyfriend... I couldn't even drink in front of him. I have no clue why... but now i've been with him for 3 years and i'm more comfortable around him then anyone else I know. Maybe it's just because of shyness. You'll get over it... once you get closer to him... and start feeling more relaxed. Just be yourself... everyone eats, and i'm sure he thinks nothing of it.

I went through this at first too - I felt uncomfortable, akward, didn't want to have stuff stuck in my teeth, all over my face etc. But, I would start with small things - in comfortable environments. Watch a dvd, and have pop corn.. nibs, and a drink.. and slowly work up from there. Just make sure whatever the reason for your anxiety that you take it small steps at a time. (Technical word for all this garbel is desensitization)

why do you get stressed? what is it that you worry about???
I don't know about "anxious and stressed" but lol, for the first year after i met my husband, before we got married o.O ;; i got nervous whenever i was eating with him..... i remember the first time we went out to dinner it was nervewrecking,
lol, i was worried whenever he looked my way, thinking things like "will i get something stuck in my teeth? do i look weird when i chew? what if he says something and i have to answer back and my mouth is ful?!?!? what if he says something funny, and i start laughing and choke or something!?"
i was mainly worried about how i looked when i ate, or dreading the many things that could happen, so i couldnt really eat in front of him either....... I don't know if that's why you have a hard time or not........
eventually i got over it, yeah , it took awhile, but once i saw that he really didnt care, and it wasnt such a big deal....... eventually i "slowly" got comfortable enough around him that i could really just eat something in front of him and not care......
no ideas on how to get over this, i think it's something that you'll just have to wait to pass, or just try to loosen up relax a bit, i know it's easier said than done, lol i couldnt just do that.......
well one thing that did help......... lol i'm a talker and will say whatevers on my mind, and if i'm embarrassed about something, i usually joke about it and let him know, just to get it out or something, or laugh first about it before he does notice it.........
so anyways, i knew he'd probably notice i was nervous everytime we ate, so i just kinda laughed about it and told him it was weird eating with him, that i kept worrying i'd do something clumsy , or get something stuck in my teeth, because i laughed about it in a jokingly way, it was easy to bring that up, in which he just laughed and reassured me there was no reason to worry =p that helped a little bit........... but thats just me don't know if it will help you as well.........

i think it must be normal after hearing you say that. i often wondered why my girlfriend does that. she will not eat in front of me and it makes me at times uncomfortable like i have done something to make her mad.we went to a real nice resturant and had a fine meal placed in front of us and she just kinda played around in it and that was it

Are you afraid of gaining weight? Maybe you have been conditioned to think that eating is bad, which is not true. You have to eat.
