Yes I agree with the above answer. Dimpling can be a sign of breast cancer, even the nipple can dimple inward. You should get it checked out by a doctor ASAP if this is a recent change. If your nipple has always been inverted then it is perfectly harmless and is along the same lines as having an inny or an outy belly button. It is a little uncommon but that is all. But again, if this is a recent change go to the doctor.

In most cases, the first signs of breast cancer are seen as a small lump in the breast. Other, less obvious signs to notice are:

Breast: Nipple: Arm:
A change in the size or shape of the breast Becomes inverted (turned in) Swelling in the armpit
A dimpling of the skin Thickening
Thickening Rash on the nipple (very rare)

The large majority (8 out of 10) of all breast lumps are found to be benign. Pain in the breast is not usually a symptom of breast cancer. Breasts can often feel lumpy and tender before a period in healthy women and some types of benign breast lumps are often painful in themselves.

If this is a recent change, then you should perform breast self exam to determine if you have a lump. Even then, any dimpling or change should be evaluated by a doctor and you should get a mammogram. Breast cancer is not something to play around with. The sooner it is detected and treated the better. October is breast cancer month and there are often free mammograms offered this month.

Its no big deal unless you are nursing and even then it is not really a big deal since they make nipple inverter shields.
