Sorry, the question whay written incorretly: Why CAN'T we interface a 7 segment display directly to the 8051 in
embedded system? I think it has something to do with the current/voltage.

Why CAN you? You could wire it directly to a port assuming it can sink the current for an LED. You would have to write your own conversion routine to display numbers though. The other option would be to use a "BCD to 7 segment decoder" chip between the 8051 and the display. Not only will it be able to sink the current, all you have to do is write out the number you want to display and the chip turns on the proper LED's in the display.

in case you had to be waiting to regulate independently 4 situations seven segments you may desire 28 wires. to cut back the type of wires a technique called multiplexing is extremely generally used. in this technique 7 wires are used to regulate the seven segments and four wires (A B C D) are used to regulate which digit is energetic. The gadget (in many situations a micro-controller) runs right here software: a million/ in easy terms the 1st 7 phase reveal is activated (cord A is energetic B,C,D are inactive) and the 7 wires are used to easy the mandatory phase for the 1st digit. 2/ the 2d 7 phase reveal is activated (cord B) and the segments linked with 2d digit are lit 3/ comparable for third digit 4/ comparable for 4 th digit 5/ bypass decrease back to step a million In precis ========= At any time in easy terms digit is energetic (the three different digit are off) yet this is going so quickly that the attention would not see it speedy on/off flash and the consumer sees the reveal as though all digits the place properly displayed each and every of the time.
