it's impossible to get that stuff of you. the best thing would to wear gloves when cutting off the pepper. it's worse for us males when we get the jalapeno on our hands, think about it :-) and hope you don't have contact lenses because I made the mistake of taking out my contacts with my peppery hands and then when I put them in the next day -- oh man!!! burn-o-rama!! for some reason, though the capsaicin wears off your hands pretty fast, in one day usually. so it kind of puts a damper on "nightly activities" :-) unless you are into that sort of thing ;-)

I THINK the hot oils are soluble in oil, also---since you're already tried the obvious cures of just plain washing, you might TRY rubbing a fair amount of any cooking oil into your hands (make sure you get the nailbeds and under the nails, cracks, etc.), letting it sit for a few minutes, then washing well with soap.

It may be just a matter of time---and this may sound weird, but consider wearing plastic or latex gloves for the rest of the night if you CAN'T get the essence off....it'd be awful to wake up because you accidentally rubbed your eyes....

Good luck, and use disposable gloves (I like latex best of all) next time!
