I understand that 700 miles will be fence and the rest of the 1300 miles will be the other stuff. Hastert in a statement last night said 'every inch' will be covered one way or another, which sounds like his heart is in the right place, at least.....

I don't know...but I hope they add some boots on the ground with adequate weaponry. I mean, look at what we do when somebody flees from the police...we try to take them down if they refuse to stop. If illegal people are invading our country, which is essentially the same principle as a burglar coming into your home uninvited, shouldn't all necessary force be used not only to deter, but actually stop the person from invading?

popular science had a nice article about it ... i was looking for it and found that israel is planning the same thing ... i wonder if this is the trend for the future ... seal off everything and everyone ... this israeli version is similar to the american model i saw except the american version had two rows of high fence instead of one and a barbwire row ... and the sand part in the middle will supposedly contain sensors also....

There is no money appropriated to build it - and not build it is what we will not do.
