This question may belong in a pregnancy forum, but I figured that I'd get the responses I wanted over here. I'm a pianist/piano teacher, and my husband and I are about to start trying to get pregnant. I've got a girl's name picked out, Cadence Aria. My husband likes Cadence, but not Aria. I'd really like a beautiful, music-related middle name to go with Cadence. I thought about Cadence Harmony or Cadence Melody, but I don't really like those. I think Aria is beautiful, but my husband and I need something that we can both agree on. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!!

What a pity your husband doesn't like Aria...it's beautiful, and (like Cadence) has the advantage of not obviously being a musical term. I'd suggest you work on him further! :)

But some other suggestions...Chorale, Viola, Opera, Sonata, Dolce, but I don't like any of those nearly as much as Aria. For one thing, they're obviously musical terms---what if she ends up not being a musician? You might want to make sure that your husband is just objecting to the name Aria and not your idea of having a totally music-related name. There are lots of other beautiful middle names that would go with Cadence that aren't music-related.

Perhaps a compromise? (I think both names are gorgeous, by the way.) First name Cadence and then a middle name that's not music related. Or vice versa. I don't know if you are planning on having more children, but if so, you could use Aria later on.

I always thought that Claire Annette would be an awesome name...

But that's just me... haha

Now to be serious, I think Cadence Aria's a cool name...maybe your husband just doesn't like the two together? Maybe it could be Aria as a first name?? I also like the "Viola" that one other person mentioned.

Good Luck!

After giving it some thought, the best I can come up with is Cadence Carol. Now, granted the word carol is known as a Christmas song or hymn. However, it can also refer to a song of joy or it can be a verb meaning to sing joyously or to praise or celebrate in song. So there is your musical tie. I also think it is a pretty name and there is the alliterative value. I hope that helps. I did look carol up to verify the meaning.
