"Aristotle's Poetics aims to give an account of poetry. Aristotle does this by attempting to explain poetry through first principles and by classifying poetry into its different genres and component parts."

I haven't read very much of Aristotle, though I did read some in college. I found him to be boring, though that may well be because of the translation. Modern translations probably make him seem more interesting and lively. He has been considered been one of the founders of Western Culture because he wrote about almost everything in the world (at least at the time). As an academic and scholar, his writing is fairly dry, as most academic writing tends to be.

Personally, I think that 8th grade may be a little early to try to read and understand an author like Aristotle, but I do believe it is important to know about him and what he said. Good luck!
