I play soccer and we have to shower after practice and games because we get so muddy. Why do girls wear bathing suits in the shower when its all girls there? I never understood that but I go along with it because everone else does. Should I keep doing it, or just shower without one?

What do you do at home, do that. The swim suit is good but you are still wearing something and you want to be clean right so who cares what the other girls say you want to be clean.
It is not like you are going to do anything, and you all look the same nude. If a male does come into the shower area, you do have the right to get that person into trouble, only women are permitted.
So do what you think is right for you, do not go by other people what they want to do and what you think is something totally different.

It would not surprise me to learn that they fear some sort of sexual abuse, from coaches, or other students. However, It might be a little dificult to wash all the areas that need washed.
If you are just getting the mud off, and the worst of the sweat, to keep from messing up the car and are going home anyway, wear the suit, it isn't hurting anything.
After I watched the Oprah show on abuse the other day, I believe there are more problems than I thought, with abuse. They were talking about grade school children and making sure that tickling and rough-housing is not really sexual abuse in disguise..
Wear the suit.

It's modesty alright - false modesty. Mainly, it's likely because teens are often highly homophobic (because they find themselves having thoughts or feelings about the same sex and it creeps them out). We weren't allowed to wear the bathingsuits on the premise it encouraged yeast infections(don't know if that is true), and what would be the point anyway? you're just going to take it off coming out of the shower, so you're naked anyway.
If you're worried about other's reactions - like them calling you a lesbo or something - then shower in a suit. If not, shower as you feel you should.

When I was in HS we also had to shower. We just did it. We didn't wear bathing suits or anything, but many people that you are with maybe uncomfortable with nudity and thats why they are wearing them. I would just go with it. I agree its all girls, and it should be no big thing but you also don't want them spreading things about you at school about you being wierd or anything.

As a teenager your body is going through some changes. Some people are not yet comfortable with them. Keep wearing the suit, it can't hurt. And you may be making someone else feel more comfotable.

Since its the norm to wear a bathing suit I'd just keep on wearing it for to be the only nude ,although to you its perfectly normal it will be thought of as something else-----so to avoid a bunch of nonsense but which could be problematic for you(even although problem not yours) wear the suit.

I am not trying to cause controversy but it is probably due to modesty and the increase awareness of homosexuality. I would wear a suit not just because I would be more comfortable.

Maybe you shouldn't ask a guy that cause we only get one idea. But yeah girls used to shower together without suits. Guys used to swim without suits either. I don't know I guess it's the current mode of thought. Oh wait I know! It's cause of all the gays and other homosexuals. Back then no one even knew that stuff existed.

Does everybody wear one, or just some people??? If everybody does, i would keep wearing one because they might not want to see you naked any more than they want you to see them naked. If there are other people that don't wear one, then don't worry about it.
