What is the correct placement of the question mark, when the quote is used? Does the question mark go at the end, or before the words "he said"?
1) "How should it be done?" he said.
2) "Like this, or like this, he asked?

If the quote is a question, ? inside "" marks. Your #2 example is written incorrectly. "Like this or like this?" he asked, is correct.

"How should it be done?" he asked.
"Like this, or like this?" he asked.
If this is something you are composing, putting - he asked isn't always necessary. As it is apparent that it is a question.
