My mom hates my boyfriend....?

My boyfriend is gothic and my mom hates him.She has never even met him she just doesn't like him because how he looks.What do I do????Please help me!!!!

I know what you mean. Sometimes parents are just trying to protect us. Its really possible that your boyfriend wouldn't ever do you any harm, but exists the remote possibility that he would. Parents think they know people because of the way they look, and maybe for their way of seeing the world, gothics are wrong. First, you have to know your boyfriend enough to assure that he is a good guy, and then look for the things you mom would value in a person, and find the way of showing them to her with facts. This will work only if your boyfriend wants your mom to like him, and if you really want to get that far with him.

If the fact that he dresses in Gothic attire is the only reason that she hates him, then she should probably rethink her priorities. However, I think it bears mentioning that she's probably only looking out for you, wanting what is best for you. I know you've probably heard that a hundred times before, and you probably grit your teeth each time you hear it, but that's the way it is with most parents.

You probably should set up a meeting between him and her sometime soon. But when you do this, you'll want to make sure your bf is ready for some heavy questioning from your mom. It goes without saying that, if she does end up welcoming him with open arms, it isn't going to happen right away. It will take a while for that to happen.

Sense it seems you want very badly for your mohter to like this guy, arrange for him to come to dinner. If the goth thing doesn't make mom happy, maybe the bf could dress down for the evening. Then He could while at dinner, explain what it is he l;ikes about goth. There's nothing wrong for goth, but your mom maybe doesn't understand it, and with the help of him telling her about it, it may open her eyes.
Have him bring HER flowers too! Why not make a good impression if you want her to like him?

Try appealing to her good judgement - ask her how she would feel if you hated the guy she was dating just because of his looks or his choices on style. If you are serious about him she should be supportive of you, if you are over 16. Explain that it's important to you that she at least makes an effort because you would do the same for her if you knew it would make her happy.

They always hate the boyfriend....if you brought home Malibu Ken with a four-point-0 grade point average, rich parents and manners to boot, they'd hate him. She'll get over it. Just remember she loves you and wants what is best. Be patient with her too....she might not understand and fighting won't make her see what you see in him.

if she hasn't met him how does she know he is Gothic? did you make it a big deal by telling her? If so then maybe you shouldn't have told her she wouldn't have been able to assume anything before hand.

Have him show up all normal looking but acting like his normal self, use a nickname. Later ask what she thought and then tell her who he really was. She will see looks aren't the person.

She probably doesn't dislike him JUST because of his looks but because of his beliefs. Find out all about what his beliefs are and tell your mom. That should ease her mind or make her more determined to dislike him.

nothing wrong with being goth as long as he is no devil worshiper.people always get judged by their clothes.1st impressions though mean alot to people.Especially your parents.did you tell her he was goth to prepare her for the shock when she see's him?Me myself though.I think goth is a little freakish..
