The bible says there is one mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ.
Why some churches encourage prayer to anyone else...I can't tell you, since this is not biblical.
Best wishes,

In the bible the definition of saints is living christians at that time.See the following definition along with bible references
BIBLE DICTIONARY
Saint
The word saint is a translation of a Greek word also rendered “holy,” the fundamental idea being that of consecration or separation for a sacred purpose; but since what was set apart for God must be without blemish, the word came to mean “free from blemish,” whether physical or moral. In the N.T. the saints are all those who by baptism have entered into the Christian covenant (see Acts 9: 13, 32, 41; Rom. 1: 7; 1 Cor. 1: 2; Philip. 1: 1; 1 Pet. 1: 14-15).

Well lets get clear about this no other Gods before me stuff. Money, relationships, sex, drugs, alochol, shopping, working, or anthing that we think is the source of our pleasure, abudance, good, and personal power is a false God. You either think that God is the energy of your own enfoldment, or other things are the source of happiness. As for prayer, most people are so busy praying with their ego mind, they could not hear the voice of God anyways. The only way you can hear the answers to your prayers is quieting the mind so you can hear messages loud and clear. First thing in the morning, spend at least five minutes with your eyes closed and breath deeply three or four times. Ask a question, and then listen as intently as you would a dear fiend. Don’t strain to listen, if you chase the answer, it will evade you. Instead continue to breathe in and out deeply. Allow yourself to relax. Tell yourself that receiving divine communication is natural for you and that it is actually an everyday experience. The more you relax your mind, the easier it is for you to hear the answer.

Yes, it is more than ok to pray to God's Holy Saints, especially to the Blessed Virgin Mary, because they will all in turn, pray to God on your behalf.
BTW, prayer & worship is not the same thing.
What worship actually is, is the Sacrifice or Offerering that is given to God.

God said I am the Alpha and the Omega. God is the only supernatural being that has any power to make changes and is the only one that can hear you. Jesus had a dual nature in that he was God in the form of man. He said no one comes to the father but through me. When you pray to Jesus you pray to the father. If you pray to anyone or anything other than God you are saying that God is not the Alpha and Omega and that you believe that someone or something is equivalent to God. This is my belief and this is something that you have to work out on your own. God gave us a free will to either believe in and trust him or follow the path of destruction.

The Bible is clear that God is the only One to whom we should pray. He is the only One Who can answer our prayers. To pray to anyone or anything else is idolatry and is clearly forbidden in the Bible. Praying to saints is a man made custom (tradition) and is found no where in the Word of God (The Bible).

No, We are to pray to God only. Saints can't save you or help you. Only Jesus can. He also prays for us. Isaiah 45:18&20

None is worthy of worship but God, worshipping men (for any reason) is a form of idolatry. Lost spirits can't alleviate your burdens; they have no control over destiny, judgement, or the afterlife. Instead you should keep them in your prayers. Talk to God and ask that he forgives the saints for any wrong they did, and reward them for their good. Peace. Salam.

Only prayers we have in the Bible, our only place of commands, examples or inferences, are to God the Father. We can physically do what we want, but only prayers to God will get higher than the hairs on our head.
Praying to God can be compared to computers carrying our messages here. We pray to God and Jesus transmits it on to God for us.

The Bible says pray to God in Jesus' name.
"There is no other mediator between God and man ,than the man Christ Jesus".So that goes for "Priests" too.(Also a scripture"Call no man on Earth, Father"(that doesn't mean Dad,that means a spiritual father.))

the last we see Mary in the Bible in Acts is wheer she is on her knees praying in the upper room and there we should leave her as a wonderful example of a woman of faith
I personally see no promise that anyone except for God can hear your prayers... and its not even the words anyway...God looks on the heart and no saint or angel can truly look on your heart like God God is everywhere and saints are in one place
It is true that we might ask someone to pray for us..that is fine... but I see no promise to go to someone other than God
so why not go to Jesus the one at God's right hand whose prayers fed thousands and whose prayers raised the dead and calmed the seas? perhaps some people go to Mary because deep down they doubt his mercy and mistakenly look to find some oen to soften up God for them... big mistake
