from this verse:
[14] The bedouins say: "We believe." Say: "You believe not but you only say, 'We have surrendered (in Islâm),' for Faith has not yet entered your hearts. But if you obey Allâh and His Messenger (P), He will not decrease anything in reward for your deeds. Verily, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
Quran 49:14

so is there different between being a muslim and being a believer?

many verses in the Quran keep saying "the believers who did good deeds" will enter paradise. it does not say muslims who did good deeds will enter paradise.

good question.

yes there is different.

-Muslim = u could be Muslim because u born in a Muslim family or u accept and surrender to Allah.

-Believer (Mo-men) = that's a higher class, usually people go thru experience that leads them to this level. and only Allah can give the premission to enter this world. the world of faith

[100] It is not for any person to believe, except by the Leave of Allâh, and He will put the wrath on those who are heedless.
Quran 10:100

-True believer (Al-sadiken) = which is more higher than the believer, and those who proves their loyalty to God while being believer.

-Prophet (Ra-soul) = and that's the highest level, which is a messenger of God. he gives all his life for God.

Muslim is the one who was born to find himself so. His family and society are affecting him all his age. He can do many great mistakes ( sins ) that Allah forbids. But after all, the nature of Islam was put inside him by Allah which means this will always be the alarm even when doing sins.

Believer, is meant to be a Muslim, but the one who knew the reality of the great values of Islam and loved to increase his knowledge and faith within it, and not only obeying Allah as orders must be done, but he does what Allah tells him through love, loving Allah then loving everything Allah told him to manage his life the best way. Cause no way Allah created him and wants to harm him. And now way it is one Allah who created this whole life and universe would accept many methods to worship him. wow ur very observative. Bravo! The guy above me basically had it. The main thing is though, that when your actions contradict what you say then the faith hasn't entered your heart. It is more of a process that grwos with time and the first step is convincing your self Islam is the truth. Either way, u will be rewarded if you strive to do good. peace.
