I am planning on going out with one of my friends ( he's gay, and we're not actually "going out" but you know what I mean) But he says that he needs to make sure he has the money to go, so if he doesn't and since it's not a date, should I offer to pay??

If you really are good friends AND you can afford it, go ahead and pay. BUT my question is why does he make plans to go out unless he's sure he has the money. I'd only do it once to be sure he doesn't make a habit of not having money and perhaps expecting you to pay all the time.

I think it would lovely for you to treat your friend to an evening out. (And for that matter, I do see anything wrong with a woman occasionally treating her love interest as well.) The trick is to make sure your gay friend doesn't take advantage, and you end up paying all the time, not saying he will, just saying don't let it happen.

Peace.

Offer to pay this time if he is short on cash but say it is his turn next time. There is no expectancy of anything in return so I think he would go for that.

Offer to split the bills or pay 100% It's up to you. Tell him he can pay next time if you really want to go.

Why not? If you're friends, than sure! I pay for my friends all the time! Just because you pay, doesn't mean you're going out!

if you guys are good friends and you really want him to go and don't mind paying then go right ahead. He can pay for you the next time you guys go out.

Yea, why not? When I go out with friends, we usually take turns paying.
