Be careful OK? your body is your home and you can NOT move out!

Just ask your self this... how much time took you to get to 350lbs? a lot right?

Well losing weight is the same deal, so yeah! atkins works and you can lose weight fast but is also a dangerous diet, if you dont eat all your vegetables.

People doing atkins tend to eat a lot of fats so choose wisely. You can have heart problems, and cholesterol problems if you dont do it right.

I highly recommend you that you visit your Doctor while doing or before this diet, because you need to lose a lot is not just a few pounds.

Yes, you can have Salad dressings with Atkins, just read the label, check the ones that dont have any sugars.

If you are doing this diet PLEASE read the book! if you are asking about the dressings, that means you didnt read it or you miss that page.

Be good to yourself, exercise, drink water, and good vegetables

Good luck, I just lost 30 Lbs.

I lost 65 to 70 lbs in a year. I've been on the Adkins diet now for about 3 years. I lost about 40 lbs in 3 months then the rest over the rest of the year.

The most important thing is not to cheat for the first two weeks. No Carbs for the first two weeks. Take vitamins because Adkins is not a complete diet you'll need to take a good multivitamin.

You can have salad dressing and other fats, such as butter, red meat, eggs, sausage, bacon, steaks.

I've maintained my same weight for the last two years. After the first two weeks I started eating some carbs, hamburger on the bun and stuff like that occasionally. I eat no sugar most of the time, and one day a week I eat whatever I want, but only one day a week.

The theory is that if you don't eat carbs you body is forced to burn fat. Once your metablism switches to burning fat (two weeks) you'll start losing weight pretty quick. I'd guess about 20 lbs per month for a month or two. Get the Adkins book and read it. This is serious stuff, and a life style change. A diet isn't something you can do for a while and quit its for the rest of your life.

If you go back to your old habits you'll be back where you are now.

Hi! My wife lost over 200 pounds on Atkins and I can give you some tips. 1) EAT YOUR VEGGIES!!! Don't just eat meat, eat lots of peppers (Sweet or hot), celery, squash, green beans, cauliflower, broccoli and such. Also remember you can still have blueberries! 2) Take a regular vitamin supplement. 3) Drink lots of water. 4) Avoid plain salad, it has no nutritional impact. Instead, eat lots of spinach. 5) There are lots of great low-carb breads out there as well as flax cereals (flax cereals can be your friend!). 6) Follow the stages of Atkins closely and research what is allowed in that stage. Keep a 'comfort food' from that stage that you can have if you feel like cheating.

Do a search not for Atkins, but Low Carb recipes. Also look into books by George Stella, he's a wonderful low carb chef! Also, check out this website...

So much misinformation here!

First word of advice, buy the book. Doctor ATKINS' New Diet Revolution. Read it.

In the induction phase (first two weeks) you are allowed 20 carbs a day.

Salad dressing is allowed, you just want to choose one with the lowest carbs possible. Vinegar and oil-based dressings are best, ranch is one that lots of people choose second.

Try not to use low-fat products, as they normally substitute fat with sugar. Also, don't buy diet bars and shakes and all that crap. You should always try to eat fresh foods when possible.

Read this page: http://www.geocities.com/lajenner/KISS.html

It's a list of foods that are good for the basic induction phase of the diet, and a good guideline for what you should and should not be eating. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.

Good luck!

You should be carefully monitored by a doctor while on the Adkins Diet...many people have become seriously ill and some even died. It drastically increases cholesterol and causes flucuation of the enzyme levels in the liver. Try Richard Simmons Deal-a-Meal or Nutrisystem or Trimspa...much safer and just as effective as Adkins

A tip would be to try weight watchers instead, the adkins diet is dangerous, to much cholesterol and will cause you to clog your arteries and have a heart attack. I know lots of people that lost lots of weight on weight watchers.

Here's a tip. Put the diet books down, excercise more, eat less and you will lose weight. It's not brain surgery. You can't eat like a pig, pick up a book about eating fat and grissle for the rest of your life and expect to lose weight and not die of a heart attack. Once you eat carbs again, you will again get fat once your body hits kietosis. If you plan of doing Atkins, good luck to you. Advice - yes - don't do it.
