I think you should wait and see about the little guy's eye. He is too sick to have an operation right now anyway. Use a large Dixie cup to make him an "E-collar". You know, the lampshades they use to keep recovering pets from licking their stitches. Cut the bottom off a Dixie cup and cover the edge with masking tape and slip it over his head. Carefully! you can rupture that eye. A paper plate will work too. Cut a line from the plates edge to the center and make a circle big enough for the kitten's neck. Cut the edges of the plate so that when you make it into a funnel shape, it sticks out about half an inch passed his nose. Secure the edges with tape or staples.
That way he can't injure himself while you finish giving him the medicine.
A lot of times the eye heals, but if not, have it removed. You don't want to have to keep caring for it for the next 18 years, do you? Better to have it out and elliminate any chance for another infection.
Your 2 year old may or may not accept the kittens, you just gotta wait and see.

How old are the kittens?
Just know that my prayers are with you and them.
Yes the older cat will calm down. Over the years my 16 year old cat has seen about 4-5 cats come and go within his 16 years with us and he is always angry but gets over it. If they are kittens the older one shouldnt have a problem with it. My cat had problems with older cats but not kittens. Oops I take that back- he didnt like kittens either because they always bugged him. Once I started paying him equal attention he was ok. It is honestly like bringing a new baby into a household of teenagers and giving your older kids no attention because they arent as cute and cuddly anymore. Put them next to one another on a couch and try to only give attention to the older one. He will come around in time. They all do. LOL
Also time will only tell with the eye and infection. That is a touchy subject given they are still young. Keep up with the medicine and I will pray for you.

I will pray for your kittens. Your vet would be the best person to inform you about what is the best course of action. I think that time will tell if your kitten will respond well to the medicine. In regards to the 2 year old cat there will be some resentment towards the two kittens, but in time the older cat wil accept the new siblings. Make sure you give the 2 year old cat a lot of attention as well. I wish you the best of luck and will pray for your kittens.

It's impossible to tell you if the eye will need to be removed at this point. You should have been given drops from the vet. But the good news is. If the eye needs to be removed your kitten will be fine. I have a one eyed cat. Her eye literally exploded from an infection at the place she was being kept. I adopted her and she's now my husbands mistress lol AS for your male cat. He may never adjust only time will tell. I have 6 cats and 2 cat stand each other :) God Bless you

That is a decision for the vet to make. A cat can be perfectly happy and well adjusted with only one eye so don't worry about it. I hope the babies will be better soon and I am happy to hear you are having a vet monitor their health.
You can get a bottle of Rescue Remedy from a health foods store for your older cat and it can help him adjust to the kittens. It's very easy to treat animals with the flower essences and they can have miraculous effects. You only need to put a few drops on your cat's fur between his ears as many times a day as you can and treat until he seems to settle down a bit.
If you can wait four to seven days you can order "New Beginnings" from www.spiritessence.com for the same price as the RR and it would be more specific to your cat's adustment. Whichever they will help him become a more accepting "big brother".

I will lift up your two kittens in prayer, tonight. I would follow whatever advice the vet gives you as to the prognosis of the kitten's eye.
Your older cat will adjust. I have rescued 6 cats, and each time the others were angry about the new addition as we acquired another member of the family. It takes about 2-3 weeks. God bless you for looking after His creatures!

Please keep the kittens separated from your 2 year old cat. My son and his wife got 2 kittens from someone who had probably mistreated them. They also had bad eye infections which required antibiotics, and also interferon - I guess as an anti-viral. Now they are both healthy and well loved. The one with the really bad eye infectin had his nicotating membrane showing (3rd eyelid) which is a sign that things are not going well. Now all is normal. I hope it all works out for you and your kits.

I don't know anything about the eyes...but I do think your older cat should adjust. Might take some time, but keep letting him know how much you love him. Prayers WILL help and I'll pray for you and your kittens. Good luck

Sorry I'm not sure about that but I feel terrible and I will defentley be praying for the kittens. I don't think you should get it removed unless you have tried everything to heal it. But then again I don't know that much about vets. I hope that they will be healed and I will pray as much as I can!
