The bacteria salmonella enteritidis is pathogenic.
Other names are salmonella typhi, salmonella salamae, salmonella arizonae, salmonella diarizonae, salmonella houtenae, salmonella bongori, and salmonella indica.
These bacterium are extremely dangerous to their hosts since, basically, it kills them. There was a time when 16% of chickens in America that had s. enteritidis. The disease can be further spread when those chickens with salmonella are not fully cooked and then eaten. So, to answer you question, it is pathogenic which means that it is harmful to its hosts. Always wash your hands and fully cook any meat (not only poultry) to make sure you don't get the salmonella enteritidis into your body.
